Carnival Calamity 2025 Part 6

 Carnival Calamity 2025 Part 6

I have Cut Out one set of Brown Triangles. Now I need to do the same with the Grey.

Grey Triangles

Instead of Measuring and Cutting into Sections I am trying a different method. I have tried to draw the Triangles from the Marks so I get more out. Trouble is it made it very difficult to see what I was trying to Cut Out.

Line them Up

l

Starting with the Grey Triangles I placed them at the Bottom in an alternative pattern across the Board leaving a gap in the Middle.

Unfortunately the Triangles were very uneven as I had shaky hands whilst Cutting Out. Once the configuration was correct I glued them in place.

Down the Centre

I place a Black piece of Felt down the Centre of the Board then proceed add more Triangles. The Triangles on the other side are directly across from the original Set. However the Colour Scheme is opposite. I made sure they were correct before gluing.

Mini Circles

Taking a small piece of White Felt which was an Off Cut I began to draw some Mini Circles.

White Set

I Cut Out the White Circles which I will call the White Set. I haven’t got quite enough so need to Cut Out some more. After I have fifteen Circles in my Set I shall do the same thing with Red Felt. This will give me thirty Circles or should I say Counters in total.

A Twist In The Tail 2025 Part 6

A Twist In The Tail 2025 Part 6

Ok I have to admit I am not sure what I did with the Photographs, seem to have some doubles and others missing. I am having difficulty trying to remember what I did.

Increase by 5

I have Increased after every 5 Stitches. This has brought the total on the Needle to 266. I did this by Knitting back and forward through the Loop. As you can see the Holes are far smaller.

I have also added the Grey I will Increase when I have done some more Rows

Sew Tails

I don’t want to Knit too much otherwise I will have difficulty Sewing in the Tails.

Go Over White

The Weight of the Yarn has made the Holes bigger. Therefore I have had to go back and Go Over the White. I am just doing a simple Looping Stitch.

Stronger if not Tidier

This might look a bit messy but at least it is Stronger. I will have to do something at a later date to make it more aesthetic

Multi Chunky

After Strengthening, I continued on with the Grey and Increased after every 10 Stitches. This brought me to 281 Stitches (I think).

I then changed to Multi Chunky. After half a dozen Rows I did another Increase after every 15. My final total is 297 Stitches on my Needle.  I am going to repeat all three colours once with out Increasing anymore and see how it looks.

Crawling Creatures 2025 Part 6

Crawling Creatures 2025 Part 6

I have so much Clay left that I have decided to continue with more Creatures.

Orange Ball

I have lots of Orange left so I first make a large Orange Ball

Mould Upwards

I now Squeeze the Ball at the Top to Mould it Upwards. It reminds me of a big nose minus the nostrils.

Red Dot

I next part the Bottom into two so it has little legs. Where the hell did that Red Dot appear from?

Star Shape

Okay this looks like a very fat Star at the upwards point. I think the Red is putting me off.

Depression

I have tweaked it so it is more even and added a Depression. That is also a good word for how I feel about the Red. Why did it have to be on the Front and not the Back? I will have to sort it.

Knitting Doll 2024 Part 6

Knitting Doll 2024 Part 6

Hurray. All the difficult bits have been done.

Slide on Arm

After creating the Slip Knot Slide it on one Arm of a Pair of Glasses. This can be done straight away after finishing the Slip Knot. Or alternatively you can make the Slip Knot on the other end of the Cord first.

Sew In Place

Slide the Knot to the Far End near the Lenses. Once happy with wear it is thread the Tail and Begin to Sew it in Place. Repeat with the other end of the Cord on the other Arm and Trim off any Excess.

Glasses Chain.

Voila!. The Corded Chain can now be used. Even though Sewn in Place it can be Slipped off and used on other Glasses like Sunglasses.

I have returned my Knitting Doll back to the Charity Shop so someone else can have a go.

I have decided that although it has its use it is far better off with somebody with smaller fingers like a Child. Also I can Knit an I-Cord far easier or even braid one with my Lucet.

Fan Folly 2024 Part 6

 Fan Folly 2024 Part 6

The Glue has dried and the Card has stuck together nicely. Now for a spot of Decoration

Add Lace

I sorted through my collection of Lace and found some Red Lace roughly an Inch Wide. I started to Add it to the Fan. This wasn’t easy for a couple of reasons. One is because the Fan has Curved Edges.

Another is in order to get it Equal Lengths both Sides I am having to work from the Back. I place the Lace Under the part of the Fan to Decorated. I then add a small bit of Glue then Fold the Material on top.

Lace Pinned

The Further along I got trying to add the Lace the more difficult it became. I decided to add Pins to fix the Lace in place whilst it dried. I left the extra material around the two Corners Unglued

Finished Fan

Once one Side of the Fan had Lace Stuck I turned it over and did the same with the opposite Side. Once both Sides were Stuck down I could move on to the Corners.

I Folded the excess Material over and stuck it down with Glue. I had to wait until Two Corners were sorted before I could turn over and repeat on the other side.

The Finished Fan isn’t as neat as I would like but it is Functional and my my mum loved it. At the end of the day I can only do what I can with the resources I have laid around.  I think for my next project I will do something from a Kit to make life a bit easier.

Boxing Clever 2024 Part 6

 Boxing Clever 2024 Part 6

Since I have to think about what I am going to do next on the Front I have decided to tackle some other bits in the meantime.

Mucky Side

I always hate the way the Glue dries when using this Material. It looks Mucky. Therefore I am going to start with the Side.

Green Side

This Side is Easy enough. I have taken a long piece of Green Material and Glued it in Place.

Peeling

It has started Peeling already. This Material isn’t very good which is why I only every use it as a Liner. Though I have to confess that using ordinary Glue instead of Fabric Glue probably doesn’t help.

Blue Band

I have a long Length of Dark Blue Band left. It can easily go all the way around the rest of the Sides. I start by Gluing it on one Side of the Box. It is a bit Uneven so I may have to add some more White.

Clip Away

Before I can do the Main Side I need to Clip a Hole in the White so I can access the Release Button.

Clip Band

I Glue to the Button. I then Clip the Band around the Button then carry on Gluing.

Autumn Cape Bag 2022 Part 6

Autumn Cape Bag 2022 Part 6

I have Picked Up as many Stitches as I could.

Holes in Bag

Hmm. Things haven’t gone too well. I have created Holes in the Bag. I am going to have to sort those later. I want to crack on.

Mark End of Row

Right the first thing is to make sure that I know where the End of the Row is. I have tied a piece of Wool around. Not sure where my Stitch Markers are.

Hunt the Needle

Then next part is tricky. I am going to have to find my other Needles, Stitch Markers and Stitch Holders.

This should have been easy but of course it wasn’t. My Needles had decided to slip out of their Covers. In the end I had to use a Needle Gauge on every single Needle to sort it.

First Stitch Holder

What I want to do is Pick Up 30 Stitches so I can carry on Knitting the Strap. Easier said than done. This is because I have to Pick Up 15 Stitches either side of the Marker.

I decided to do the most difficult Pick Up first. I therefore took a Stitch Holder and began to Slide it through the Stitches. I had to start at the 15th Stitch and work back towards the Marker.

Too Tight

Have hit a Snag. It is Too Tight to get all the Stitches on the Stitch Holder with the other Needle still inside.

So I have had to add a Second Stitch Holder to try and easy the pull from the back.

Crikey Not Christmas 2022 Part 6

Crikey Not Christmas 2022 Part 6

After winding the Yarn around the Circle I had an idea. Since it reminded me of a Vine I decided to make some Ivy to add to it.

Ivy Template

First of all I needed to find a suitable Ivy. There are many different types. I settled upon Hedra Helix also known as English Ivy.

I drew a rough design to use as a Template. I wasn’t sure about the Size I needed so I made it slightly larger and could Trim later if necessary.

Ivy Test Piece

After I had my Template cut out I decided to try it out first on some scrap material. I used some of the Rib although I did know that this would slightly alter the outcome.

White Ribbon Disaster

My initial idea was to use some White Ribbon that I had as Edging. It was a complete Disaster. It was not only difficult to manoeuvre it around the corners but also distorted the Shape.

White Paint Trial

Next I tried using White Paint to Edge the Ivy. Although this was more successful than the Ribbon I still wasn’t entirely happy with the result.

Chalked Design

I decided to put it to one side for now and using the Template Chalk out the Shape.

Chalk Design Flipped

As the Ivy does change direction I Flipped the Template over and drew some Shapes with that Design

Roughly Cut Ivy

Once I had Chalked out all the Designs I roughly Cut them out.

Out of Zone Mask 2020 Part 6

Out of Zone Mask 2020 Part 6

Phew it is the final furlong of this Mask.

Add Elastic

In order to wear the Mask I had to add some Elastic. The Metal materials and Back Patch added to the Weight of the Mask. Therefore I decided to use a slightly Thicker piece of Elastic to compensate. I Folded over one End and Sewed it at the Bottom of the Mask where the Washers and Chains are.

10cm Elastic

The next part was real fun. Trying to Measure the Length of Elastic required wasn’t easy. I managed to scratch my Face when I tried to Pin it in place whilst having it wrapped around my Ear.

Eventually I got a Measurement of 10 centimetres. This includes the amount to be Folded back on itself prior to Sewing.

Sew Mask Bottom

After repeating the process on the opposite side I decided that this would be a good time to add the Backing. I therefore Sewed the Back along the Bottom.

Sew Top of Ear

After Sewing the Bottom I began to Sew up the Sides of the Mask leaving a good inch at the Top.

I added the Elastic that would go over the Top of my Ear then continued Sewing up the rest of the Side. This was then repeated with the other piece of Elastic.

Finished Mask

Here we have the Finished Mask. It has been washed and pressed even if it doesn’t look it. The Back Patch is causing a few wrinkles but I will definitely be able to iron those out in time.

N.B.

Many thanks to Laura of https://www.alyssa-rose.co.uk/ for her much need advice.

A Comfy Candy Christmas 2019 Part 6

A Comfy Candy Christmas 2019 Part 6

The next part of making the Cover is adding the Press Studs

Add Press Studs

I started at where the Top of the Cover will be. I Sewed the Right Hand Press Stud part on first (Photograph Facing). I then added the Left Hand part on the other side. There is a reason for this which I will explain later.

Press Stud Mistake

Another mistake due to not paying attention. When Sewing the Press Stud in place I went through both parts of the material. I had to unpick and redo.

Triple Press Studs

I have now Sewn three of the Right Hand Side Press Stud Parts onto the material. The reason I am doing it this way is if you look at the above photograph you can clearly see the slope.

This meant that the other side could not be in a straight line. The further down the other side of the material I went the more to the Left I had to place the rest of the Press Studs.

End of Slip Cover

I have now all the Press Stud Parts Sewn on to the material. Next I have to deal with the End of the Slip Cover.

Fold Canvas Bottom

I have quite a bit of material left at the Bottom. I either could cut off and Re-hem or try to Fold the material to make it smaller. I decided on the latter approach.

I pushed the Sides in towards the Centre. This is a bit like wrapping a present.

Sew Fold Together

I then Sewed the Fold together.

Sew Bottom Edge

After I Sewed the two pieces together I Folded the remaining Edges together and Sewed those making a nice Flat Edge Bottom.

Lollipop Finished

The Lollipop is now finished and it needs to be wrapped in time for giving for Yule.
