A Twist In The Tail 2025 Part 11

A Twist In The Tail 2025 Part 11

The final furlong of this Project.

Cast Off Fin

I have finally Cast Off the Fin. I now need to Sew in all the Ends.

Inside Out

For the next part I needed to turn the Bag Inside Out.

Attach 3 Places

To get the look that I want I needed to Attach the Fin correctly. I Sewed in three places. Two of them were in the Outer Edge and one directly in the Centre.

Sewing Folds

Sewing the Folds in Place was difficult. I needed to make sure what ever I did on one Side I matched it correctly on the other.

Frilly Fan Fin

Once I had Attached the Folds at the Bag I next continued the Fold to the end of the Fin. I sewed along the Fin to make sure that the Folds stayed in Place.

So there we have it. A Mermaid Blanket complete with with a Frilly Fan Fin.

N.B.

I know it could look even more Finny but I didn’t want it to be a Trip Hazard.

Mini Pudding Puzzle 2024 Part 5

Mini Pudding Puzzle 2024 Part 5

Right with that done I can start the next step.

Creeks

According to the Instructions I now have to start working on something called Creeks. This is Sewing various sections like alleyways together.

Pinning Idea

Since the Sewing needs to be done from the other side I have had an Idea. I will put Pins into the the two Sections opposite in the Pattern. Then when I turn the Material over I will always know where I am.

Start on Creeks

To make life easier for myself now I have turned it over I am going to start Sewing the Creek beside the Pin.

Taking Shape

Having Sewn several of the Creeks I can now see the Ball Shape Taking place.

Two Domes

After I completed the White Section I continued on and Completed all the Brown. I now have Two complete Domes.

Mini Pudding Puzzle 2024 Part 3

Mini Pudding Puzzle 2024 Part 3

With all the White Hexagons Finished I could move on to the Pentagons.

Not Happy

I am really Not Happy with the way this Pentagon has bee cut out. No matter how I turn the Hexiform I cannot get a true match. I am going to have to see if I can try and Fix it during Sewing. I hope the others aren’t like this.

First Pentagon

With what I had to work with I think that this First Pentagon hasn’t turned out too badly. On with the rest.

Speckled Brown

The White is all finished so I can turn my hand to the Brown. Again I am Not Happy. At first glance when I was sorting these out I thought they went near the Top. I thought the Speckled Colour was supposed to be Icing Sugar.

However when I looked through the rest they are all like this. I termed this Speckled Brown - I have been watching a lot of Sherlock Holmes lately.

Add to the Brown

First port of call was to add the Hexiform. Since no thread has been provided I have to search my supplies for some Brown Thread.

Good Colour Match

I am lucky that I have quite a good collection of threads. I have found a Good Colour Match to the Brown Material.

Brown Hexagons

I have finished the Hexagons.

Brown Pentagons

I have Finished the Pentagons. They are not quite the right Shape in places. My fingers were beginning to get sore. I should have rested but that is me all over.

Mini Pudding Puzzle 2024 Part 2

Mini Pudding Puzzle 2024 Part 2

I can now start Sewing.

White Set

I thought that I would start with the White Set as there was less of them to do.

White Hexiform

I took the Hexagons out from the Pattern. I placed the Hexiform into the Centre of each one. The Woven Side needed to be facing me. I added a Pin to the one I was going to start first to stop it moving.

First Fold

With the Pin holding the Hexiform in place I could easily make the first Fold. It only took a couple of small stitches to keep the Fold in place.

First Corner

With the First Fold done I turned the Hexagon and made the Second Fold. Sewing this in place created the First Corner.

Completed Hexagon

I kept Folding, Sewing and Turning until I had Completed all the White Hexagons.

4 Hexagons

I completed all 4 Hexagons then I returned them to their Place in the Pattern.

Bleeding Blooms Part 2

 Bleeding Blooms 2024 Part 2

What I hadn’t mentioned in the previous Blog is that this Project is Time Sensitive. A good friend was leaving the County and therefore I had a Deadline to meet. This being the case naturally something was bound to go wrong.

Colour Variety

I began to add a Variety of Colours in the Circular Blooms.

One Corner Done

One Corner Done and Time is going much faster than I would like. I need to press on with the other side. I am taking my Embroidery with me when I go places so I can keep Sewing. This includes Sewing whilst travelling by car which isn’t easy.

Missed

Lots of rude naughty words. I though I had finished all the Red and Orange Blooms but I have Missed some. I didn’t notice this until I started Trimming all the Tails off. Now I need to find these Colours again.

Stained

Okay so it is D -Day. I finished Sewing at 3.15 this morning then spent an hour Trimming off Tail Ends. All I have to do is Wash and Press the Cloth

I am having a Nervous Breakdown!. Whilst Ironing I have found in one Corner the Colour has Bled. I try various home remedies with my friend helping. I also call another friend for suggestions.

I Re-wash and Iron the Cloth hoping that it will be better. Unfortunately despite all our combined efforts the Stain is still visible. However I am out of Time and have to go. I can’t even wrap it because it is still Damp.

Double Take

Here is a photograph of the Finished Project above. I had  a Double Take when I initially saw it.  At first I thought there was a huge Stain. Then I realised that what you don’t see because of editing is that I am standing behind it holding it up. It is the Pattern on my Clothes that is showing through.

The real Stain is barely visible and hopefully will come out when washed again. The upshot is that I got it delivered on time and my friend loved it.

My hands still have the imprint of the Embroidery Ring in them so no Sewing for a while and absolutely no more Blooms Bleeding on Cloths!

Tartan Tidy 2023 Part 2

 Tartan Tidy 2023 Part 2

Sometimes I wonder at my stupidity. I had not said what I was making or why. My boyfriend had bought a Crystal so I thought I would make a little Pouch to put it in.

Crystal

I did not Sew all the way up because I needed to leave a gap to put the Crystal in. I was going to put a Bow and Bell on it as shown in the above photograph but I decided against it.

 Button up

Once I had measured how much room I needed for the Crystal, I could then finish Sewing. I then Buttoned Up the Material after I had put the Crystal inside.

Tartan Tuck

With the Crystal at the Bottom, I then proceeded to bring up the Tartan in line with the Button. I slipped the Material through the Buttoned Section.

Tartan Tidy

I Folded the Tartan over and round. I tucked the Folded Material inside the Buttoned Section. Thus, I had one Tartan Tidy. Glad to say the Crystal made it safely to boyfriends home.

Autumn Cape Bag 2022 Part 59

Autumn Cape Bag 2022 Part 59

Now the Pocket is Cast Off I can start Embroidering the Details.

Tidy the Grey

Before I can start adding Detail, I need to do the usual boring Tidying up. I begin Sewing in the loose Ends. Some of the Ends are long enough to Straighten Up some of the Grey Outline.

Eye

I have added the Eye. This is so I can use it as an Anchor Point. If I know where the Eye is, I can better work out where to place the rest of the Embellishments.

If you look carefully at the above photograph near the Eye, you might spot a divot in the Nose. It is the result of changing a round drawing to a chart. I have to change it back again.

Secure Tail

I Secure the Wool for the Tail at the back. I have chosen a Dark Grey colour. I will be doing a small part of the Tail before I continue with the Light Grey.

Add Legs

I have Embroidered enough of the Tail to work out how far it will go down the Pocket. I can now add the Legs knowing that they will not be interfered with by the Tail.

Rat Tail

That is the Tail finished. I have also been around and completed the Outline of the Light Grey.

Autumn Cape Bag 2022 Part 35

Autumn Cape Bag 2022 Part 35

Technically my Bag is now usable. However, I want to tidy it up.

Sort Leaves

Before I can do anything I need to Sort out my Leaves and see what Colours I have. I may need to make some more.

Pin Leaves

I start to Pin the Leaves in place ready for Sewing.

Inside Out

Some of the Leaves are quite hard to get to, especially the further down the Bag you go. For these I turn the Top of the Bag Inside Out. This makes it much easier.

Yellow Hole

I have found a Yellow Hole. By the looks of it is the result of a dropped Stitch, which I did not pick up correctly.

Hole gone

I Sew the Hole together. I then place a Leaf over it to hide the Mistake.

Yellow Problem

I have found another Yellow Problem.

Problem Fixed

Again, I Cover the Mistake with a Leaf. I try where possible to use different Coloured Leaves to help break up large blocks of Colour.

Autumn Cape Bag 2022 Part 32

Autumn Cape Bag 2022 Part 32

I am going to continue with the Embellishments

Flap Join

I had started adding Leaves across the Flap Join. This not only covers the Join but also Strengthens it.

More Gold

I searched through my pile of Coloured Leaves. I realised that I was short on Gold so had to make some more. I also made a few Orange Leaves.

Flap Leaves

I have now Covered the Flap Join with a variety of Coloured Leaves. I can now move on to something else.

Hole

It is difficult to see but there are quite a few Holes. This is where Stitches have Stretched. I placed a piece of paper underneath to spot them easier. In the photograph above, there is one in the Brown towards the bottom.

Hole Gone

I have tightened the Knitting by Sewing in some extra Red. The Hole is now Gone. Unfortunately, there are more I need to do and it is a thankless task.

Autumn Cape Bag 2022 Part 13

Autumn Cape Bag 2022 Part 13

A short and snappy blog this week whilst waiting for the material to dry.

Got to Unpick

Before I can do any Sewing of Material I need to finish the Strap. This means changing the Shape. Since I do not want it really long I need to Unpick the Wool. Though looking at the Pile that I ended up with I would say this is more in the region of Unravelling.

Increase Stitches

Having taken several inches of Wool off I then had to put the Stitches back on to the Needle. At least this time I knew how many to put on. I slowly Increased the amount of Stitches thus Mimicking the Pattern at the Bottom of the Strap.

Final Cast off

Finally got to the End. Well of this particular Strap anyway.
