Bleeding Blooms Part 2

 Bleeding Blooms 2024 Part 2

What I hadn’t mentioned in the previous Blog is that this Project is Time Sensitive. A good friend was leaving the County and therefore I had a Deadline to meet. This being the case naturally something was bound to go wrong.

Colour Variety

I began to add a Variety of Colours in the Circular Blooms.

One Corner Done

One Corner Done and Time is going much faster than I would like. I need to press on with the other side. I am taking my Embroidery with me when I go places so I can keep Sewing. This includes Sewing whilst travelling by car which isn’t easy.

Missed

Lots of rude naughty words. I though I had finished all the Red and Orange Blooms but I have Missed some. I didn’t notice this until I started Trimming all the Tails off. Now I need to find these Colours again.

Stained

Okay so it is D -Day. I finished Sewing at 3.15 this morning then spent an hour Trimming off Tail Ends. All I have to do is Wash and Press the Cloth

I am having a Nervous Breakdown!. Whilst Ironing I have found in one Corner the Colour has Bled. I try various home remedies with my friend helping. I also call another friend for suggestions.

I Re-wash and Iron the Cloth hoping that it will be better. Unfortunately despite all our combined efforts the Stain is still visible. However I am out of Time and have to go. I can’t even wrap it because it is still Damp.

Double Take

Here is a photograph of the Finished Project above. I had  a Double Take when I initially saw it.  At first I thought there was a huge Stain. Then I realised that what you don’t see because of editing is that I am standing behind it holding it up. It is the Pattern on my Clothes that is showing through.

The real Stain is barely visible and hopefully will come out when washed again. The upshot is that I got it delivered on time and my friend loved it.

My hands still have the imprint of the Embroidery Ring in them so no Sewing for a while and absolutely no more Blooms Bleeding on Cloths!

Bleeding Blooms 2024 Part 1

 Bleeding Blooms 2024 Part 1

I am revisiting a project that I started and had to put on hold. The previous blogs are at the bottom of the page.

Half Way

This is the point at which I am starting. I have finished about Half Way on the Embroidery.

Ring and Colours

I have found my Embroidery Rings and have selected various Blues and Purple Threads to Continue with.

Barely See

I had forgotten how badly the Pattern was Faded. I can Barely See what I need to do.

Pencil Outline

Back to Basics. I have Outlined the Pattern in Pencil. This makes it much easier to see.

Make a Start

I have made a Start. I selected a Bloom in the Middle of the Leaves to Embroider. I have a great deal of Light blue so I Embroidered with that Colour first.

Autumn Cape Bag 2022 Part 17

Autumn Cape Bag 2022 Part 17

Finally something a bit different.

Tails Tangle

Before I can start on the next section I need to Sew in all the Tails from the Strap before they get into a Tangle

Start Embroidery

If you remember when picking up the Stitches I created Holes along the line. I need to rectify this. I am going to do this by Embroidering. In addition to covering the Holes I need to add to the Leaves. In Nature you do not get Square Leaves.

Add Oak Leaf

I have done some Embroidery with Orange and Yellow Wool. However it is not suitable for very large Patches. Therefore I have Knitted and Sewn in place a small Oak Leaf

This is something I had done before on the Autumn Cape. Although I have the Pattern I no longer have where I got it from. If you are desperate for it I should have it mentioned in my Autumn Cape blogs.

 Cluster of Leaves

I have now added several small Oak Leaves in a Cluster. I cannot go too far up the Strap as it has yet to have the Backing Sewn on it.

More Blooming Flowers 2019 Part 4

More Blooming Flowers 2019 Part 4

It has been awhile since I blogged about this project so here is an update.

Wonky Petal

If I remember correctly I was discussing problems that occur. This problem is one of my own making. Somehow I haven’t correctly followed the outline of the Petal.

Embroidery Mess

This meant that I had to go over the Petal until I readjusted the shape. Consequently as you can see it has made a Mess of the back.

Different Pair of Blooms

Finally I am on to the Large Circular Bloom. If you look at the above photograph you will find Two Pairs of different coloured Blooms.

This is not a mistake. There are two reasons for this. One is I am trying to break up the colour scheme. I do not want the Single Blooms and the Large Blooms the same where they together.

The other reason is I am trying to max out my thread supply. I don’t want to be half way through Bloom and find that I have run out.

Untidy Bloom

A word about Tidiness. Although I have mentioned it before I think in the photograph above you can see properly how bad thread and mistakes make the reverse of the Blooms very knobbly and Untidy.

Tidy Bloom

In this photograph you can see the difference. I was lucky to have much better thread which in turn led to less mistakes and being far Tidier.

Finished Red Petals

I have now finally finished the Red Petals in all the Blooms.

More Blooming Flowers 2019 Part 2

More Blooming Flowers 2019 Part 2

I am not having a good week. Apart from being ill my Embroidery has taken a beating due to being beset with problems.

Pencilled Leaves Complete

First I had to go around the whole Cloth and go over the Leaves in Pencil. I finally managed to complete all the Leaves in their different colours.

Faint Lines

I could now move on to colouring in the Petals. However as soon as I took a look out had to come the Pencil again.

Blurred Transfer

If that wasn’t bad enough some of the Transfers must have slipped whilst being put on as in the above photograph

Blurred Part Pencilled

This is tricky. I am slowly going over each individual Petal. I am trying to get it as accurate as I can by comparing it to other Transfers that aren’t as Blurred.

Petals Too Close?

I think I have done mostly okay on this Bloom but I am not happy with the Bottom half of it. I think the last few Petals are a bit too close together.

I think that when it comes to filling them in I will have to adjust the Pattern slightly.

Mademoiselle Marionette 2018 Part 6

Mademoiselle Marionette 2018 Part 6

I try to use my time as best I can so whilst the Arms, Legs and Body are drying I am moving on to making Hair. I am going to be using embroidery silks for the Hair.

Making Loops

I take a White Circle that I have hemmed. I find roughly the centre of the Circle as that will be my starting place. I make a knot in one end of the thread and push through from the back.

I decide what length I want to make the Loop. I leave enough thread and then push the needle back through a few millimetres to the side. I am using my thumb to stop the thread going all the way through.

New Colour

There are two ways of keeping the thread as a Loop. You can make a knot in the other end of the thread and cut but this would be very time consuming.

The method I used was to use a securing tack before moving on to the next Loop. This method saves both time and thread. After I have done a row or so I add another Yellow. This will help to mimic shades and Hi-lights.

Pin heads Back to Back

The other material is now dry. I pin the Heads back to back and then sew with a Blanket stitch across the top of the Skull. I then turn the material the right way around.

Hair Pinned to Head

I now pin but do not sew the White Circle to the top of the Head. I do this so I can check precisely the shape and where the Hair will fall once sewn.

More Loops

I continue adding a few more Loops. I am still keeping them fairly central. There is a very important reason for this which I will mention later.

Double Hem

Before I add any more Loops I am going to decrease the Circle. I fold the material over so it matches the original hem width. I then pin it in place and sew around. This keeps the shape whilst making the Circle smaller.

Hair Parting

I have now sewn the Hair to the very top of the Head. I have added a few more Loops but as you can see in the Photo above I have left a gap.

This gap is important as this indicates where the string is going to be attached. I want to add a little more Hair along the outside before I sew in place I am doing it this way because after the Scalp is completely sewn on it will be harder to push through the extra material.

Hair Attached at Side

After adding more Loops I have continued sewing along the Circle on both sides. I am leaving the bottom unsewn at this point so that I can manipulate the thread better.

Yule Presents 2017 Continued

Yule Presents 2017 Continued

I have several lovely friends that are coincidentally in the same craft group so I thought I would like to make something crafty, personal and useful.

I had one of ‘my bright ideas’ which generally means it is okay in theory but could do with several months extra in which to make. Therefore I haven’t taken pictures as I have gone along but I will try and give you the idea.

The craft group is called The Witches’ Stitches. The presents are for three lovely ladies and two handsome gents. Ladies first -

Moira’s Yule Present Front 2017

I made these gifts simultaneously so they are in no particular order. I am making bags complete with zips using the Cross–Stitch technique on Aida Fabric. The bags are embroidered both sides with the group name on and are large enough to encompass long Knitting Needles.

Moira’s Yule Present Back 2017

Although the lettering is the same each bag is unique to the person it is meant for. Moira is a White Witch and renowned Author so what could be better than a bell, BOOK and candle design complete with a pentagram.

Cayt’s Yule Present Front 2017

Cayt who set up the group is organised. She is a very cheerful person and is often sporting colourful clothing so bright colours were a must.

Cayt’s Yule Present Back 2017

She is also is a gardener. Therefore I felt that it would be nice to have a bit of Ivy clambering around the lettering.

Julia’s Yule Present Front 2017

Although Julia is a Crochet Demon rather than a Knitter I thought it would be nice to have the bag the same size as the other girls.

Julia’s Yule Present Back 2017

When I first met Julia she was often in flowing ethnic or tie die kind of clothes. Therefore I thought I would do a myriad of colours to go with her sparkling personality. Ye Gods never let me have an idea like that again

Now for the lads presents. Both the men do Cross Stitch so I made the bags shorter but deeper than the ladies. With luck they should be able to get a small hoop inside. This time the material used for the bag is felt and the Aida is sewn on top otherwise the small needles would fall through. Rather than using a zip this time I have used strong Velcro.

Tim’s Yule Present 2017

After consultation with Cayt as to what colours Tim liked I decided on a blue background. I did wash the felt first because I didn’t want to risk the colour bleeding onto the White Aida.

I have tried to keep the pattern simple with a few of his gardening tools on. By sheer coincidence when I began to add the ribbon I had bought I noticed it said Merry Christmas.

Matt’s Yule Present 2017

With the information from Julia that her Fiancé likes Tartan I proceeded to go with that theme. I think the ribbon used was definitely in the Festive mood because it just would not go on straight. – Sorry about that Matt!

Since Matt is musically inclined I add a few notes then went on to wash and press all the gifts ready for wrapping. Merry Yuletide 2017 folks!
