More Blooming Flowers 2019 Part 5

More Blooming Flowers 2019 Part 5

This week’s blog is short and sweet as I am reaching the Finale.

Tiny Yellow Stitches

I am now beginning to start the Stamens. These Stitches have to be very Tiny. I am Backstitching in a Circular Pattern

Finished Yellow Middle

Once I have completed the Circle I have simply added a few extra Stitches over the Middle.

Yellow Ring

Now I have got the hang of the process I continue filling the Middle of all the Outer Blooms.

Fully Completed Yellow Interior

I have now Fully Completed the Yellow Interior of the Bloom. Needless to say it was both fiddly and laborious.

More Blooming Flowers 2019 Part 4

More Blooming Flowers 2019 Part 4

It has been awhile since I blogged about this project so here is an update.

Wonky Petal

If I remember correctly I was discussing problems that occur. This problem is one of my own making. Somehow I haven’t correctly followed the outline of the Petal.

Embroidery Mess

This meant that I had to go over the Petal until I readjusted the shape. Consequently as you can see it has made a Mess of the back.

Different Pair of Blooms

Finally I am on to the Large Circular Bloom. If you look at the above photograph you will find Two Pairs of different coloured Blooms.

This is not a mistake. There are two reasons for this. One is I am trying to break up the colour scheme. I do not want the Single Blooms and the Large Blooms the same where they together.

The other reason is I am trying to max out my thread supply. I don’t want to be half way through Bloom and find that I have run out.

Untidy Bloom

A word about Tidiness. Although I have mentioned it before I think in the photograph above you can see properly how bad thread and mistakes make the reverse of the Blooms very knobbly and Untidy.

Tidy Bloom

In this photograph you can see the difference. I was lucky to have much better thread which in turn led to less mistakes and being far Tidier.

Finished Red Petals

I have now finally finished the Red Petals in all the Blooms.

More Blooming Flowers 2019 Part 3

More Blooming Flowers 2019 Part 3

Another week and another set of problems.

Missing Cotton

This is something that many crafters encounter. There is only a little bit left to do and you run out of Thread.

Testing Colour

Normally I would just cut some more and carry on but unfortunately I have two very similar Coloured Threads. This means I need very good light to check which one I need to use. Unfortunately being stuck in bed I have had to leave it.

Double Check

Whilst not fully recovered I have managed to sit outside for half an hour where the light is better. A quick Double Check before I finally finish the Petal.

Final Two

If you remember from last week I had trouble with a Transfer. I have now started the Bloom. I went around filling in all but those last two tricky Petals

Adjusting Petal

I very carefully Adjusted the Petal on the Right Hand Side. I curved it ever so slightly. If you look at the above photograph carefully you might just see the outline of the original Pencil Line.

Easy Does It

In order to correctly Adjust the final Petal I sewed it slightly different. I made the Petal far narrower than usual. That meant I had room to make it bigger on either side depending on how it looked in comparison to the others.

Adjusting Complete

I am glad that is over. I hope I don’t find too many more that need Adjusting like that.

More Blooming Flowers 2019 Part 2

More Blooming Flowers 2019 Part 2

I am not having a good week. Apart from being ill my Embroidery has taken a beating due to being beset with problems.

Pencilled Leaves Complete

First I had to go around the whole Cloth and go over the Leaves in Pencil. I finally managed to complete all the Leaves in their different colours.

Faint Lines

I could now move on to colouring in the Petals. However as soon as I took a look out had to come the Pencil again.

Blurred Transfer

If that wasn’t bad enough some of the Transfers must have slipped whilst being put on as in the above photograph

Blurred Part Pencilled

This is tricky. I am slowly going over each individual Petal. I am trying to get it as accurate as I can by comparing it to other Transfers that aren’t as Blurred.

Petals Too Close?

I think I have done mostly okay on this Bloom but I am not happy with the Bottom half of it. I think the last few Petals are a bit too close together.

I think that when it comes to filling them in I will have to adjust the Pattern slightly.

More Blooming Flowers 2019

More Blooming Flowers 2019

Now it is Late Spring I am turning my attention to some projects I have put on the back boiler.

New Flower Pattern

I am back to my Embroidery. I have another Cloth to do. If your remember I did some last year * Links at the bottom of the page

All Stems Done

I know I can seem a bit hit and miss in my approach but I do try to be methodical when I can. Therefore I did all the Stems first.

Multi-colour Leaves

After finishing all the Stems I moved on to the Leaves. I am using odd bits of Cotton Silks up. Waste not Want not.

Undefined Leaves

Okay I have hit my first problem. The Transfer was already on the cloth but due to age some of it is barely showing.

Pencil Defined Leaves

The simple solution is to go over the Leaves with an ordinary Pencil. A tedious job but a must especially since I don’t always have good light.
