Fan Folly 2024 Part 4

 Fan Folly 2024 Part 4

After the debacle of the first attempt at a Fan I had to have a complete rethink.

Pile of Card

I usually have some Card tucked away for making Templates. Unfortunately I was completely out so I was chuffed when a parcel arrived that I could rip up into a Pile to look through.

Selected Pieces

I made a bit of a muck up when tearing the Box so was a bit fortunate to be able to Select Two Pieces that I could use.

Pencil Around

I am not having a good day. Every Bowl I tried was too small. Therefore I was forced to use one of the bigger ones what had Handles. This made it difficult to Pencil Around.

Cut to Shape

I Cut it to Shape. In the above photograph you can see that it is not a straight curve due to the Handles.

Match Up

I placed the one I had Cut out and Matched it Up on the other Card so I could Draw around and Cut.

Fan Folly 2024 Part 3

 Fan Folly 2024 Part 3

I am continuing with the Rough Fan.

Rough Folded Fan

I have Folded the Fan and it does work - Barely. Now to try it with a different Material.

Draw Around Fan

To get the Shape right I have reopened the Fan and Placed it Face down on some different Material. This is an Off Cut from a Christmas Pair of Pyjamas.

Doubled

Once Drawn I Folded the Material over and Cut it out. Next I Glued it together.

Quartered

Once Dried I proceeded to Fold the Material into Quarters. It now looks like a Slice of Cake or a Cheese Triangle.

Snipped

I Snipped the Corner off with a Pair of Scissors then Opened it back up. I now had the beginning of the Semi Circle.

Curved

I Cut away until the Snipped section was Curved. Now it looks like a very thick Rainbow.

Try Five

At first I tried Nine Struts but it wouldn’t work. I scaled back down to Five and though it was better it still wasn’t right. I can Place and Glue them in place alright to start with.

Unfortunately once I try to fold it or use it the Material comes away from the Stuts. The principle is fine it is the Struts that are the problem. Naturally being placed one on Top of the other the Further from the beginning the Higher the Last Strut is going to be.

This means that the Glue just will not hold in place. With a different kind of Strut it would probably work. However these Garden Labels that I am using for the Struts are not completely Flat. They have raised Edges which is doubling the Gap in between. Time for a rethink.

Autumn Cape Bag 2022 Part 16

Autumn Cape Bag 2022 Part 16

Why are there so many blogs on this project you might ask? The answer is very simple. It is because I keep making mistakes! This blog is no different.

Draw Around Template

Now I have my Template I can draw around it to make the others albeit they will be slightly longer.

Hem Clanger

Oh for heaven’s sake I have dropped another Clanger. This is kids play stuff! When I drew my around my Template I did it right from the edge rather than allowing for a Hem.

Before I start my Second Template I Folded the Material over and give enough room to make a Hem. I wrote it on to make sure that I didn’t forget.

Match Hems

I Matched the Hems on the Second piece of Material and Pinned the Hem. I then Sewed across.

There wasn’t much I could do with the First piece as I had already Trimmed it. Therefore I did the Smallest Hem I could get away with.

3 Different Hems

One Templet 3 Different Hems. Not a good start. I will need a fourth one but I will have to find some more Material for that. Also as I have not finished Knitting the Strap I do not know yet how long it will need to be.

Time to throw in the T-owl 2022 Part 3

Time to throw in the T-owl 2022 Part 3

Time to move on to the real thing. I apologise for the pure quality of the photographs.  I may have changed the order to make it easier to follow

Draw Circle

I had a hard time choosing what colour Card to use as my Friend dislikes certain colours. Naturally those were the colours I had in stock. Finally I found some Green Card. I Drew a Circle using the Outside of the roll of Tape.

Draw Inner Circle

I used the Inside of the Tape to Draw the Inner Circle.

Rub Out Excess

I Rubbed out the Excess lines before I moved on. I am going to use the Eraser a great deal I think.

Adjust Face

Some photos didn’t come out at all so I have had to mess around with the order. I had drawn the Face but now I needed to Adjust it.

Tape Curve

To make the Wings I used the Tape as to make sure that I had the same kind of Curve. This is was easier said than done trying to place it in the right position.

Adjust Talons

I need to make better Talons. I decided the best way was to Draw seed like ones on the ends of the legs. Then I could add the Sharp parts.

Pencil Outline Complete

I have finally got the Pencil Outline that I want. I haven’t added all the Feathers for a reason. I will discuss this in the next blog.

A Comfy Candy Christmas 2019 Part 1

A Comfy Candy Christmas 2019 Part 1

This blog deals with another of my bright ideas with a ridiculous time scale. In other words I got an idea for a Yule Present in November whilst I already had projects to finish.

Handy Outlines

First of all let me apologise for the quality of the above photograph. I have tried adjusting with filters and such like and this is the best I can get. Secondly I would like to thank the Major at the Sally Army for being such a good sport and literally lent me a pair of Hands to Draw around.

The reason I didn’t Draw around my own Hand is because it would have been too small and the Arm Length too short as the Present is for a Man.

Rough Cut Foam

I cut out the two pieces of Foam roughly with a Bread Knife. These will form the basis of my project. You might notice a difference between the pieces. This is not a reflection of my male model but a deliberate action on my cutting out.

Lolly Pop

This piece is vaguely Tree Shaped but after some more trimming it will be a Forearm Length Lolly Pop.

Candy Cane

C

This upside down Christmas Stocking is in fact going to be a Candy Cane. However I cannot Curve the Top completely as it will make it too small.

These two Large Christmas Foam items are going to be a pair of Arm Rests
