Autumn Cape Bag 2022 Part 47

Autumn Cape Bag 2022 Part 47

I am going to continue to add the Loops

Two Loops

I decided to start at the Outer Edge. The Material here is Stronger because of the Wide Hem. I added Two Loops using the same technique as before.

Unfinished

It was difficult adding the Right Loop because of the Material hanging down. This was something that I had left Unfinished. I decided I had better do it before carrying on with the other Loops.

Fold Hem

I Folded the Material and Sewed it to make a Double Hem. This made it both Shorter and Tidier.

Tuck Under

I then decided to Tuck the Hem Under the Strap. With a few more Stitches, this should hold it in place.

Autumn Cape Bag 2022 Part 34

Autumn Cape Bag 2022 Part 34

When working on a project like this things take a great deal of time. Consequently, I can struggle to get enough photographs to make up a blog. This time I have too many so going to split into two or more.

Pin Top

I know have the Top part finished. I have had to Pin it to keep it from rolling while I work out the next Step.

Sew L Shape

I have decided to Sew the Top to the Side rather than Fold it, which was my original idea. This will create an L Shape. Before I do this, however I will Sew the loose parts of the Strap that I had left together.

 Strap Bottom

Ok I confess I have not a clue what this was supposed to be. This is one of the problems when blogging. Sometimes you have moved on so far you have forgotten what point in the order of things the photograph was taken.

All Attached

I have now attached everything and it has made that section much stronger. Now for the other side.

Autumn Cape Bag 2022 Part 27

Autumn Cape Bag 2022 Part 27

I cannot believe that it is Part 27 of this blog. I thought that this must have been getting near how many I had done for the Cape. However, after a quick count up I found that I had done at least 57 blogs on that project. Feeling a little better now.

Brown Odds

Time to find out all those Odd bits of Brown Wool. Going to use them for Stitching the Strap together.

Needle Pinned

Had a super idea. Rather than get more Pins out I have used the Knitting Needle still attached to the bag to hold the Strap together.

 Sew to Curve

I am going to Sew to the Curve using my favourite Blanket Stitch to pull the Edges together.it

Attach at Curve

I have reached the Curve now to Attach.

Cat-astrophe

Damn it! Knew things were going to well. I had taken the Bag outside to Sew. I was doing fine until one of our local cats decided to come and have a nose.

While shooing it gently away I had not realised that Strap had become Twisted. I only realised after I had pressed it. Now I have two choices. Either Unpick or Cover up.

Autumn Cape Bag 2022 Part 26

Autumn Cape Bag 2022 Part 26

Okay am seriously bored now. How can something so technically simple take so long?

Pin to Sew

Once again, I am Pinning to Sew an End.

 End Backed

I have now Sewn the Backing End in place. However, I am not entirely sure that I have lined it up properly. I seriously cannot be bothered to Unpick and Redo. If it is a problem, I will sort it afterwards.

Nearly There

Finally, the End of this Section is in Sight.

 Grrr

OH COME ON! I measured this and if anything, it was over. I am really beginning to wish that I had never started this damned thing.

Finally Backed

Thank God, I have now Finally Backed the entire Strap. I wonder what can go wrong with the next part.

Autumn Cape Bag 2022 Part 24

Autumn Cape Bag 2022 Part 24

Had to admit defeat. I cannot use small Thread to continue Sewing Backing on to Strap due to my continued mouth problem. I have had to jump across to a different part.

Noodle Aliens

It is late and I am struggling to write the blog. In desperation, I turn to my boyfriend for help. I ask him what does this look like to you? His reply I kid you not was Noodle Aliens having a fight.

Not sure, whether I should be checking his food for E Numbers or what exactly is in the herbal tea! However, it is a good description for how my brain is currently feeling.

Pressed Leaves

I have now washed and Pressed what I have Knitted and sorry to disappoint but they are not Aliens –Noodles or other kinds but a Leaf of each Colour that is in the Bag.

 All Sewn Up

I simply could not sort out what I was putting where. Normally I would leave some of the Tails to use to Sew together. The way things are going, I am going to have to play it more like the book. Have to stop again now as late.

Will be checking for Noodle Aliens under the bed.

Autumn Cape Bag 2022 Part 23

Autumn Cape Bag 2022 Part 23

This is going to be short as am in a lot of pain with toothache.

More Material

I need more Material as the Strap is so long. I am going to Cut across the bit that is sticking out.

Sneaky Tails

Ha, found some Sneaky Tails hidden in the rolled up Strap. I will have to Sew these in. Better, check the rest of the Strap.

 Nearly Forgot Hem

Dang nearly Forgot to allow for the Hem again. I have had to move the Strap up a bit. This means I am going to have less at the end. Think time to stop before I mess anything else up.

Autumn Cape Bag 2022 Part 22

Autumn Cape Bag 2022 Part 22

I am seriously beginning to think that this particular project is cursed!

Broken Needle

My Knitting Needle has broken. I have managed to stick the opposite end of the wood into the tube. This is not very satisfactory as this is from my baby set of Needles. There is very little room. I am worried about it coming Off.

Length of Bed

Finally, I have Cast Off! The Length of the Strap runs the full Length of my Bed.

Broken Both Ends

I am glad I have finished Knitting the Strap as I had done the last few inches with a Needle that was Broken Both Ends.

2 Backing

On to the Backing. If you remember from previous blogs, I have 2 left. Unfortunately, the Backing was a little wide and causing Excess Material to Bunch Up.

Trimmed

I have now Trimmed and Re-hemmed one of the Backing Straps

Big Difference

When I compare the Backing I have Redone to the other one, I can see a Big Difference.

Overdone it.

Lots of rude naughty words! I have Overdone it! The main part is fine but the Curved areas are now too Small. I am going to have to have a think.

Autumn Cape Bag 2022 Part 20

Autumn Cape Bag 2022 Part 20

This was slightly trickier than I thought it would be but I got there in the end.

 Strap to be Backed

Above is a photograph of the Strap that I am going to back. This is the one that I have finished Knitting and Shaped at the end.

 Pin Template

I decided to use the Template on the Strap, as I knew it was the most accurate. I matched the Curved section then Pinned along the Bottom.

 Pin One Side

I began to Pin both Sides. When Strap was Stretched out there seemed to be an Excess of Material.  I decided to Pin one Side at a time. That way I could make sure, that I could check how much the Excess was.

 Tack Along

Once the Backing was fully Pinned I could begin to Sew into place. I merely used a Tacking Stitch as I was going to Sew it with a stronger Thread later.

Tack Both Sides

I Tacked all the way around Both Sides and along the Top. I am leaving the Bottom Untacked for now. This is because I want to check a few things first.

As you can see in the above photograph, the Template is not entirely Flat. This is due to the Excess Material. I am going to have to consider this factor when I move on to the next part.

Autumn Cape Bag 2022 Part 18

Autumn Cape Bag 2022 Part 18

This blog is a bit of a bust. Most of my photographs seemed to have either disappeared or great quality. So apologies but I have done my best with what is left.

Securing

The problem with changing colours so often is that it can leave loose Stitches. This will become a major problem once I have started using it and the Weight will naturally drag it Downwards.

I have begun the process of going over these areas. In the above photograph you can see where I have gone along the edge of the Orange to Secure it.

Blurry Blue

This was a very difficult photograph to take. I wanted to show how the Holes are so much bigger where I picked up Stitches. I have held the Knitting up in front of my computer screen. Therefore the Blue of the screen can easily be seen through the Larger Holes.

Brown Blur

Another difficult photograph to take. Once again I am holding it up against the screen. Now I have gone through with the Brown Wool the difference is much Smaller.

Red Top

There are many Straight Edges that you do not find in Nature that I need to tackle. Here I am Changing the Shape and also I fixing Holes at the same time.

Leaves and Orange

I have added 3 Leaves to the Second Strap. However there was a bit of a gap so I have embroidered some Orange in it. Much more to do so need to carry on.
