I am continuing with the Second Strengthener.

Single Hem

 

I had been left with Excess Material. I could either Cut it or Fold it.

With the amount of coughing I am doing, I felt it safer to Fold.  Actually, the other end of the Material had

Comparison

 

I have Sewed the Second Strengthener is place. In the above photograph, you can see the Comparison between the two.

Unpicked

 

I was not happy the way it looked so I unpicked it to redo. This time instead of the using the Tacking Stitch I used Blanket Stitch.

New Comparison

Though still not perfect, it is much better than before. I had thought about putting a Strip across to cover the gap. However, I decided against it and are going to leave it as a little pocket to keep tissues inside.

Why are there so many blogs on this project you might ask? The answer is very simple. It is because I keep making mistakes! This blog is no different.

Draw Around Template

 

Now I have my Template I can draw around it to make the others albeit they will be slightly longer.

Hem Clanger

 

Oh for heaven’s sake I have dropped another Clanger. This is kids play stuff! When I drew my around my Template I did it right from the edge rather than allowing for a Hem.

Before I start my Second Template I Folded the Material over and give enough room to make a Hem. I wrote it on to make sure that I didn’t forget.

Match Hems

 

I Matched the Hems on the Second piece of Material and Pinned the Hem. I then Sewed across.

There wasn’t much I could do with the First piece as I had already Trimmed it. Therefore I did the Smallest Hem I could get away with.

3 Different Hems

 

One Templet 3 Different Hems. Not a good start. I will need a fourth one but I will have to find some more Material for that. Also as I have not finished Knitting the Strap I do not know yet how long it will need to be.

I have my colours and am ready to start filling the second rose once I have finished the middle one.

Bottom Rose

Now here it might look like I have gone a bit wrong but I assure you I haven’t. I misplaced the thread I was using so therefore rather than try and turn the house upside down looking for it I started on the Bottom Rose

This time instead of doing a single outline and then highlighting it I have sewn a double one. I will see if this works out better in the long run.

The double edge was much better than sewing a single edge. However I did find that even with the double I still had to touch up in places.

All in all I am quite happy with the result and I now know that this sort of project is ideal for doing whilst waiting for Election Results to come in.

Second Sewn Head Scarf 2017 Part 1

Since this is the second Head Scarf a few details will be known to you already. The process at the beginning is the same as that used in the Fleur de Lys.

Red Ribbon Head Scarf

The photo above shows the diamond cut and hemmed with Red Ribbon – my chosen colour this time. Two edges have been backstitched in red thread and two in pink

Rose Template

The design I chose this time was that of a Rose which is my favourite flower. After I traced and filled in the template onto the middle I repeated at the Bottom of the diagonal.

I started on the Middle Rose first by outlining with Dark Red and Dark Green.

Using the same backstitch process I filled in the flower part with Pink Thread

I then started highlighting the interior with Dark Red thread.
