Autumn Cape Bag 2022 Part 15

Autumn Cape Bag 2022 Part 15

I have had fun (not) trying to sort out the photographs for this blog as taken quite a few in one go.

Pin Strap

I Pinned Strap to Material again.

Trim Strap

I now Trimmed the Material around the Strap. I make sure that I have left enough room for a Hem.

Pin Template

Before I go any further I am going to use what I have cut out as a Template. I placed and Pinned the Material on top of the Offcut and then Cut out. I have put aside for later.

Pin Middle

I take the Template and I Pin from the Curve to roughly the Middle of the Material.

Blue Hem

I now Hem what I have Pinned. I am using Blue Thread for this. Normally I would match the Thread to the Material. However the is not going to be seen so going to use something easily spotted and use up some spare Thread I have left over.

Pin Beginning

Now I have the Middle Sewn I am now Pinning the Beginning of the Strap and Folding over. I need to match the Ends to make this work.

Mark End

At the Folded End I take a Pencil and Mark it. Again I have to remember it will need Hemming.

All Hemmed

This Template is now fully Hemmed. I will now be able to use it for more accurate copies.

Crikey Not Christmas 2022 Part 15

Crikey Not Christmas 2022 Part 15

Well my hand has healed so I can get on with more crafting. This is just as well since this is blog 15 and I am beginning to think it will be Christmas by time I finish making this.

Trying to Place

I now have to try and work out where to Place the Ivy. This is easier said than done. I have to take into consideration both the Top and the Sides of the Wreath.

In addition to this I have to think where I am going to Place the Holly and the Ribbons.

Turn Ivy

After messing about adding and removing Ivy and Holly numerous times I decided to do a test.

Add Glue to Back

I turned the Ivy over and began to carefully add some Fabric Glue. I only wanted to put the Glue on the Upper most part of the Leaf.

Pin Low

I Placed the Ivy in line with the Pine Cone but leaving a Gap. I Pinned it just below where I had put the Glue. This is so I didn’t Glue the Pin too. If I did the Leaf would come away when I removed it.

Three Stuck

Once I was satisfied with the outcome of the first Placement I added another two Ivy Leaves. Again I Placed them underneath the Pine Cones.

This is going to be my basis for the rest of the Wreath additions.

Dionne’s Draught Excluder 2019 - Part 15

Dionne’s Draught Excluder 2019 - Part 15

I am continuing with making the Paws.

Paw Slip Original

After turning the Slip the correct way around. I place it on to the Leg.

Paw Slip Curved

Using a Blanket Stitch I Curve the Top Edges of the Paw Slip.

Slip on Paw

The above photograph shows the Curved Paw Slip on the Leg. As you can see there is still a bit of loose material. The Curved Edges look very pinched from this angle.

Small Stuffing

Since there is not much room for filling between the Slip and the Leg I have had to cut the Stuffing into very small pieces. Otherwise when filling there will be unsightly bulges.

Blanket Stitch Paw

I have Stuffed the Paw Slip and need to do more manipulation of the End. Since I do not want the Slip to move around whilst I am working on it I have to secure it.

Important
I Sew the Slip to the Leg using a Blanket Stitch. However prior to this I had to make sure that the Slip was in the right position on the leg. This was done by placing the Leg how it would be attached to the body. That would show the correct angle of the Paw. DO Not use the Seam of the Leg as a guide as I found it can twist quite badly whilst being stuffed.

Double Curve

Once the Slip is secured I could go back to the Curved End. Using the same Technique I Sewed the Curve again. I pulled the material tight and some of the Stitching was far nearer to the Centre of the Slip.

This was actually easier than I thought it would be. Now the Paw was Stuffed I had more to get hold of and the needle went through quite easily.

Mademoiselle Marionette 2018 Part 15

Mademoiselle Marionette 2018 Part 15

The next item I tackled is a pair of French Knickers.

Red Cup Material

I took a piece of Red Silky material with Lace.

Cut in Half

I then cut the material in half.

Edges Sewn Together

I sewed the two pieces together at one side using the hem that was already there.

Trying Material for Size

Before I made any adjustments or adding any fastenings I checked the width against the Marionette.

Red Material Press Studs

Once satisfied that the material would fit across easily I trimmed off the excess and then I added Press Studs.

Split Lace & Spare Piece

I cut the Lace at the Front.  I folded it and sewed it at the sides giving it a curve.

Gusset Attached

I cut and hemmed the spare piece in a triangular shape then attached to the Back of part of the Knickers

Studs on Wrong

Grr I sewed the Gusset Press Studs on the Wrong way. I will have to unpick and redo. Also the Side Hem sticks out too much I will need to reduce that.
