Test Trouble 2024 Part 2

Test Trouble 2024 Part 2

I have narrowed down the selection further. I have decided to use the Longest piece.

Button Hole

First problem is the Button Hole. I cannot use that in this Project so will have to remove it.

Cut Off

I have Cut Off the Button Hole. To keep it equal in Length I have done the same with the Opposite End.

21 1/2 Inches

I need to keep a Record of what I am doing. I have Folded the Material in Half Lengthways. It is 21 and a half Inches long. So if I double it the complete is 43 Inches.

1 3/4 Inches

Whilst I had the Tape Measure out I thought I better Measure the Width. It is 1 and three quarters Inches wide.

Hemmed End

I can now continue. I have Hemmed both Ends of the Material.

Hole Problem

If you look closely at the above photograph you can see that there are Holes in the Material. This is the result of Unpicking the Material and removing the Thread.

Autumn Cape Bag 2022 Part 35

Autumn Cape Bag 2022 Part 35

Technically my Bag is now usable. However, I want to tidy it up.

Sort Leaves

Before I can do anything I need to Sort out my Leaves and see what Colours I have. I may need to make some more.

Pin Leaves

I start to Pin the Leaves in place ready for Sewing.

Inside Out

Some of the Leaves are quite hard to get to, especially the further down the Bag you go. For these I turn the Top of the Bag Inside Out. This makes it much easier.

Yellow Hole

I have found a Yellow Hole. By the looks of it is the result of a dropped Stitch, which I did not pick up correctly.

Hole gone

I Sew the Hole together. I then place a Leaf over it to hide the Mistake.

Yellow Problem

I have found another Yellow Problem.

Problem Fixed

Again, I Cover the Mistake with a Leaf. I try where possible to use different Coloured Leaves to help break up large blocks of Colour.

Autumn Cape Bag 2022 Part 2

Autumn Cape Bag 2022 Part 2

This project started badly and my luck hasn’t got any better!

Colour Problem

I have to be honest I have dropped a right Clanger. What I intended to do was Knit Plain Stitch around and around. For those that do not know this would give the same effect as Stocking Stitch.

The plan was great apart from one tiny detail. I had forgotten that I would be Changing Colours constantly. By Knitting in a Circle all the Tails would be at the wrong end.

Twisted Stitches

I therefore changed to Stocking Stitch. When I got to the end I noticed yet another Clanger. At one point I had dropped the Knitting and got it all Tangled.

I hadn’t noticed that when I started Knitting again that I had Twisted the Wool. Therefore I had created another Problem. After already Restarted once I was reluctant to do so again especially as this time I would have to undo all the Colours.

Time to Grow

Having Bit the Bullet I decided to deal with that particular Problem later with a bit of ingenious Sewing. I carried on Knitting until it got a bit longer. Then I needed to have a break before anything else went wrong.

The Problem with Pom-Poms– 2022 Solution is Snow Joke

The Problem with Pom-Poms– 2022 Solution is Snow Joke

I hate Waste. So here is a Novel idea I came up with how to deal with the Problem the Pom-Pom had caused.

Spare Pom-Poms

I had the Large and the Medium Sized Pom-Poms left. You can see what I meant about the Original one being so rough and uneven. So what could I do with them?

Sew Pom-Poms Together

As I was holding them both in my hand I had an inspiration. By putting one on top of the other I could make the base of a Snowman. Fortunately the Tails were still attached so I simply Sewed them together.

Add Stick

Rummaging around in my Craft Cupboard I found a Stick. It was intended for a different project but it was so ideal I decided to use it now. I simply slipped the Stick through the Centre of the Lower Pom-Pom

Nose Job

For the Nose I took a Medium Sized Toggle and Coloured it with a Black Permanent Marker. I got some Superglue and spread on one End. Then I pushed it firmly into the Centre of the Head.

Snowman Complete

To complete the Snowman I Glued on some Googly Eyes. The added a Ribbon off an old wooden tobacco box I had been given. I love Boxes! The last thing I made was the Hat.

I cut a Circle out of Black Card. Next I took a strip of Card and Rolled it to make a Tube. I Cut a Smaller Circle the same size as the Tube and Stuck it on Top. Then all I had to do was to Glue the other End onto the Large Circle. Finally I Stuck the Hat onto the Snowman.

Pieces of Pom-Pom

The Snowman might now be finished but I was still left with a huge pile of Yarn Trimmings from my desperate attempts to get the Original Pom-Pom down to size. I also had dozens of Tail Ends from making the Hat and Scarf. Not to mention the stray pieces of Yarn that had simply fallen out the Pom-Poms.

12 Owls

I hadn’t found a Christmas Card that I liked for my friend and with another jolt of inspiration I came up with this. The 12 Owls of Christmas cut out and Stuck on a Pleather Tree. I used the Trimmings as Snow.

Bah-Humbug

The Card I made for Danny was a nod to his Nott’s County Hat and Scarf Set. Also we had not long watched ‘The Muppet’s Christmas Carol’. Therefore by carefully Gluing Strips of Yarn onto the Card I created a pile of Humbug’s.

It was an extremely fiddly job and the Yarn came off almost as much as it went on to the Card. In the end it was worth it to see his face.

Incidentally ‘What is Scrooge’s favourite Hat?

It’s a ‘Humburg’ of course!

Refurbished Mini Footstool 2021 Part 2

Refurbished Mini Footstool 2021 Part 2

The next bit was a little difficult and I was tooing and froing but hopefully I can get the photographs in a reasonable order.

Problem Material

I have accidentally cut the Rear Material Short. Not only that I have managed to snip a hole in it too. I made a Short as possible Hem.

Rear of Stool

When Gluing in place I had to really pull the Material down to the Edge. I also Sewed it at the Bottom of the Hem to the Stool to Secure it.

Remove Excess

As I have had to pull the Material around to Cover the Back I had to Cut off Some Excess Material

Glue and Pin Rear

If you look at the above photograph of one of the Sides you will see that the Right Hand Side is quite full. However on the opposite side which is coming from the Rear it is almost Vertical.

Sew to Secure

After Gluing the extremely Short Fold I Secured it by Sewing.

Mini Footstool

I now have a finished Mini Footstool that just needs to dry a little more.

Upholstered Set

I now have an Upholstered Set of Chaise Longue, a Footstool and a Mini Footstool.

Autumn Cape – A Long Term Project 2021 - Another Problem

Autumn Cape – A Long Term Project 2021 - Another Problem

For some reason things never seem to go smooth for me. I have now found my Leaves and was going to start adding them when I Spotted something.

Wrong Colour

I should imagine that this was another of my working in the wrong light and being too tired moments. I have inadvertently added a Bright Orange to the edge of my Night time section.

Unpick Colour

There is absolutely nothing I can do to hide this so I have to Unpick the Leaf.

Replaced Colour

I have Replaced it with a Dull Yellow although the camera has made it look quite bright. I haven’t put it back in exactly the same place because with Unpicking I slightly Damaged some of the Red. Therefore I had to adjust the angle to cover it.

Night Start point

This is the area I was supposed to be working on. I need to make the Brown section look more organic and add Embellishments.

Branch Embellishment

I begin to add more Branches. This is going to take a long time so only going to add a few at this point.

First Leaf

As you can see in the above photograph I have put a few twigs on and added my First Leaf.

Absolutely Fantastic

I am still struggling to use my new phone to take photographs and somehow I have appeared to have lost them. Will have to retake them. Do the problems never cease?

Dionne’s Draught Excluder 2019 - Part 2

Dionne’s Draught Excluder 2019 - Part 2

From time to time all Crafters no matter what tools or materials they use will have one of those days when things just don’t want to go right. This week it is my turn. I haven’t got nearly as far as I intended.

Cut off Sleeves

It started off alright. I had cut off Sleeves which would do for the material that I wanted. These I washed and pressed ready for cutting.

13.5 Inch Circumference

The first Problem I encountered was that my Tape Measure had disappeared. Therefore I was forced to use my Metal one which does not like bending into a Circle. This End was not too bad and I managed to get the measurement of 13.5 Inches.

Other End

The Other End simply would not play ball. It kept springing all over the place. Normally what I would do in this case is use a piece of String to follow the Curve and then Measure that.

Of course even though my place has enough String, Thread, Wool and Yarn in it to knit jumpers for a flock of sheep not one piece was available to hand. Typical!

Trio of Circles

Once I obtained the Measurements (which incidentally were not equal and therefore a challenge I will have to sort another day) I needed to find something to Draw around.

I need not mention how much fun it is to Measure half a dozen Circular objects with a Metal Measure, especially when quite a few were at a gradient like plant pots.

Rough Cut Circles

I couldn’t find a single object of the right size to Draw around. Eventually I decided to pick a larger version and once cut I would shrink using a combination of Trimming and Hemming.

Naturally as soon as I wanted to Draw around the pot I found that my Chalk had disappeared. After spending 20 minutes finding another piece and Cutting out I decided to quit Crafting before anything else could go wrong.
