Autumn Cape Bag 2022 Part 23

Autumn Cape Bag 2022 Part 23

This is going to be short as am in a lot of pain with toothache.

More Material

I need more Material as the Strap is so long. I am going to Cut across the bit that is sticking out.

Sneaky Tails

Ha, found some Sneaky Tails hidden in the rolled up Strap. I will have to Sew these in. Better, check the rest of the Strap.

 Nearly Forgot Hem

Dang nearly Forgot to allow for the Hem again. I have had to move the Strap up a bit. This means I am going to have less at the end. Think time to stop before I mess anything else up.

Crikey Not Christmas 2022 Part 23 –Ribbon

Crikey Not Christmas 2022 Part 23 –Ribbon

On to the final stretch of what has been a far bigger project than I realised

Glue in Place

I now added some Glue and Placed it as far down as I could to the Base.

Pin to Hold

I Pinned the Ribbon to Hold it in position. I didn’t want it to slip at this point.

Final Sew

After removing the Pin I gave a Final bit of Sewing at the Base.

Retouch Paint

Since I have been constantly turning the Wreath some of the Paint was looking a bit tired. I gave the Pine Cones a quick Retouch with the White Paint.

Festive Finish

The Final Festive Finish. It has been hanging for a week and not fell down. I am so proud.

Mademoiselle Marionette 2018 Part 23

Mademoiselle Marionette 2018 Part 23

This week we move on to the Handbag.

Rectangle Folded

I used a very simple process to make the Handbags. This is the first one I made. I took a piece of Rectangular cloth and folded it into thirds.

In the photograph above you can see that I pinned it so it wouldn’t move whilst sewing. I sewed up both of the sides with a Blanket stitch. I then sewed a piece of Ribbon to one side then the other side so it Looped into a Strap

Pair of Handbags

Once I made the Red Handbag I used the same technique on the others. However I did add a few details to tie in with the other outfits.

On the Navy Blue Handbag I had the tiniest piece of material left over so I sewed that along the middle of the Rectangle before Blanket Stitching. I also trimmed the edge with the Pinking Scissors.

Ice White Handbag

Unlike the Red Handbag the rest of the collection I had added Press Studs to them so they didn’t swing open. This meant I had to slightly alter the length of the Flap as I needed to Fold and Hem it to secure the Stud.

Party Blue Handbag

One thing I felt was a good idea was to put the heavy part of the Stud on the Hem of Flap. This would give it a little extra strength when undoing it. The tip to remember is to sew the Press Stud on the Flap prior to sewing it in place.

It is also good to sew the other part of the Stud in place before sewing up the sides. With the exception of the Red Handbag which was the test piece I also sewed the Ribbon in place before turning.

The great thing about making multiple items of this kind is you are continually making improvements in technique.
