Dying Dilemma 2025 Part 8

Dying Dilemma 2025 Part 8

Afterall the dismantling I did last time now I have to start to reassemble.

Materials Needed

I have found a Ruler, a pair of Scissors and some of my Cross Stitch Thread.

14 Cm

I have only limited Thread at present so have to be careful how much I use, Therefore I am going to do some tests.

Thread Coin

I pull the Thread through the Coin and knot it at the Top.

Thread Big Beads

Next I Thread two Silver Big Beads. I did not knot the Thread this time.

Split Thread

The reason I am using this type of Thread rather than ordinary sewing cotton is because I can easily Spit it. I have divided it into two equal parts and placed a Small Bead on each.

Third Bead

Finally I add a Third Small Bead.

Boxing Clever 2024 Part 4

 Boxing Clever 2024 Part 4

This is going to be more fiddly so need to take my time.

Adjust Edges

I have selected some Offcuts from the material left from a previous project. Sewing Bee Bag see links at bottom of the page. I am using my Pinking Scissors to Adjust the Edges so they do not Fray.

Split in Two

I want Thinner pieces of Cloth. I Split the Light and the Dark Blue into two Separate parts each by Cutting along the Middle with the Scissors.

Got the Blues

I Glue the Dark Blue across the Lid. I place the Lighter Blue roughly halfway up the Dark Blue. This is the start of a Wavy Sea.

Landslide

I continue layering the Blues alternatively until they reach the Sky. Once that part dried I added another piece of Camouflage over it. It has added a Sliding Slope to the Land.

Add Ship

Where the Sea meets the Sky I have added a couple of small pieces of Black Leather. This is the the Base and Mast of of a Boat in the Distance. I need to find a different Colour to make the Sail.

Add Rocks

I have found a nice piece of Red to make a Sail. I have also added a few Rocks. With some extra pieces of Blue I have added more Waves. It now looks like the Sea is rough with Waves crashing.

Crikey Not Christmas 2022 Part 19 -Ribbon

Crikey Not Christmas 2022 Part 19 -Ribbon

On to the Ribbon. For some reason the photographs are making the Ribbon look orange but it is actually bright Red.

Red Ribbon

First I needed some good Ribbon. I had two nice thick pieces that I had saved from something. Apologies I forgot to measure but I think it was about an arm’s length.

Cut and Crimp

They had Velcro on so I Cut that off both Ends. Then I used Crimping (Pinking, Zig-Zag) Scissors on the Ends

Fold Ribbon

I Folded one of the Ribbons in Half. You will get a better idea of the Size in this photograph. At this point I think I should mention that I looked at dozens of ways to make a Christmas Ribbon online and tried some. However it would take dozens of blogs to go through the all.

Cross Ribbon

Using the Fold line as a guide I then Crossed the Ends of the Ribbon over. This way I could ensure that the Ribbon was equal.

Grip Ribbon

After I Crossed the Ribbon I used a Grip to keep it in place. This is because I am now going to move on to the second Ribbon.

Crikey Not Christmas 2022 Part 14

Crikey Not Christmas 2022 Part 14

Warning do not look at the End Picture if of a Sensitive Disposition. ****

Pine Cone

I had an idea for some extra Decoration. I found one of the spare Pine Cones that I had rejected for the Ring.

Pine Cone Test

I began a Paint Test on the Pine Cone. First I did a few Seeds and when that looked alright I continued so it was all Painted.

Start Painting

I let the Test Cone completely dry so I could examine it properly. It didn’t take long as I was using a simple Watercolour Paint

All Painted

I Painted all 3 Pine Cones attached to the Wreath. I let them dry then I went to turn the Ring over so I could Paint the other side.

Pine Seed Stuck

It was once I tried to move the Ring for turning that I noticed that unfortunately the Superglue had seeped through on to the dish.

I had to tug the Ring to remove it and it left a Pine Seed behind along with some Superglue.

********

Should Know Better

Remember the old saying ‘more haste less speed’. I was impatient to crack on with the Painting therefore I grabbed the nearest thing I had to remove the Superglue and Seed.

So with the Dish in one Hand and the Scissors in the other I began to prise the remnants off. Of course the inevitable happened. I slipped and thrust the Scissors straight into my Palm.

Consequently I had to stop Crafting for about a week.

All Steam Ahead 2021 – Belt Up Part 2

All Steam Ahead 2021 – Belt Up Part 2

Now I have my Belt the correct Colour I have to tackle my next problem.

Measure Up

There are only a few Holes in the Belt. However for what I have in mind I need Holes all the way around. As I do not have a tool for making Belt Holes I have had to Improvise.

My friend Laura suggested using a Dremel but after trying that I changed to a Hook. I used the Ruler to get the Holes evenly spaced.

Fold Back

Well that didn’t work out to well! It was so tough to get through and not only that I didn’t seem to be getting the Holes even.

On top of everything else when I looked closer I saw that the Holes already in the Belt weren’t actually round they were more Oval in Shape. I had to rethink.

Scratch and Snip

I decided to Fold the Belt over until the Holes matched up. I then Scratched the Shape by using a pair of Scissors. I then Unfolded the Belt.

Using the Scratched Shape as a guide I then Pushed the Scissors through. I carried on doing this back and forth until I had a decent sized Hole. Once the Hole was large enough I had to trip the Back so it was nice and neat.

Watch Out There’s A Minx About 2019 Part 3

Watch Out There’s A Minx About 2019 Part 3

Minnie the Minx wears a Hat. It is a Black Beret with a Red Pompom on. I already had a Black Beret so all I needed to do was add a Red Pompom

Materials for Pompom

First I gathered the materials I needed. I got Card, Scissors, Pen and two circular items to draw around.

Pompom Outer Circle

For the Outer Circle I drew around the Bottom of a Glass. If I had drawn around the Top the Pompom would be far too large.

Pompom Inner Circle

For the Inner Circle I placed a Salt Cellar in the Middle of the Outer Circle. Before drawing around this I made sure that I had the same amount of edge all the way around.

Pompom Cut-Out

I cut out the Circle and then cut out Middle Section. I then repeated the process.

Start of Pompom

I wound a Ball of Yarn then tied it to the Pompom Templates.

Beginning to Wind

I then began to wind the Yarn through the Templates. I placed the Strands as close to each other as I could.

First Time Around

I made one complete Circuit. I then began the second. I had to make more Balls of Yarn and attach them as I went along.

Fully Wound Pompom

I kept winding until there was only a small hole left. The last part of the winding I threaded a Needle to make it easier to go through. When finished I tucked the end into the Yarn.

Snip Between Cards

I very carefully began to cut away some of the thread to expose the Card Templates.

Tie Pompom

I continued cutting the Yarn all the way around. I then parted the Templates slightly and using Yarn about the same length of my arm I tied it in between the Card. I pulled it tight to secure it.

Remove Card

It was then safe to remove the Card Templates. I fluffed up the Pompom and trimmed off any straggly threads.

Sew on Pompom

Now I had my Pompom I could use the ends of the thread to sew it onto my Beret. It was a little larger than anticipated. However that doesn’t matter as it is a Comic Character.

I did add a couple of hairgrips to secure it a little more to the Beret so it didn’t flop about whilst walking.

Mademoiselle Marionette 2018 Part 19

Mademoiselle Marionette 2018 Part 19

In Loving Memory of Sarah Louise Kay
The world is a darker place without her.

This blog is moving on to making Skirts to go with the Top

Rough Template

In keeping with the French theme I decided to add a touch of Red to go along with the Blue and White. Since the Skirt like the Top has to be detachable I came up with the idea of making it a wrap-around Skirt with Side Split

Cutting out the material was the easy bit as was the Hemming. The difficulty was trying to place the Press Studs in the right place. This was due to the hour glass figure.

If I tried making the Skirt tight around the Stomach it made it flare out in an unsightly manner. Too loose and it flapped about. In the end I decided that the best way would be to make the Skirt sit on the Hips.

Red and Blue

Once I had the dimensions for the Skirt I could make more with slightly different designs.

The Original Red Skirt is shown in the above picture which is fully Hemmed. The Dark Blue Skirt I have straightened on one side and have used Pinking Scissors to create the pattern.

Pure White

The White Skirt I have kept simple. I have merely Hemmed 3 Sides. Therefore the Bottom can be altered at another time if wished.

Party Blue

This Blue Skirt I decided to add a touch of sparkle by adding a Silver Ribbon. This will make an excellent match for the Party Top.
