Autumn Cape – A Long Term Project 2021 - Completing Body

Autumn Cape – A Long Term Project 2021 - Completing Body

Well here we are. I had to check how long I have been working on this project. It certainly lived up to its name as according to my record I first blogged about this in March 2016!

Daytime Top Edge

I am now going to add Embellishments to the Daytime Top Edge. This includes Leaves and Branches

Fox Embellishments

Laura was kind enough to take the following photographs for me. Here is the Fox. As you can see I have added various Leaves to the Top of the Edge and also further down over the Fox.

The above photograph gives a good view of the added Leaves even if I do look like I am about to sing ‘Bring me Sunshine’.

Hedgehog Pocket

In case you have forgotten I had added a Hedgehog Pocket under the Pile of Leaves. Since the Mobile phone won’t fit anymore it is handy for Tissues or Sweets.

Night Time Top Edge

As with the Daytime Side I then had to Embellish the Night Time Top Edge.

Badger Embellishments

Once again I added Leaves and Branches to the Design

Mole Pocket

Here is a reminder of the other Pocket. I called it a Mole in a Hole.

Complete Hood

The previous photographs showed the Hood merely draped over my hairline. As you can see in this picture the Hood comes over quite far. This is designed to protect from those really cold days with a biting wind.

Owl Back

Back to the Owl. As I said previously if I had known then what I know now I would have placed it further up the Design. Please forgive the folds we were rushing a little.

Can you spot the Squirrel hiding?

First Hockey Match

I have decided that the first proper outing will be at a Panthers Ice Hockey Match. I was really toasty. I also loved the Boots that I bought to accompany the Cardigan. Great picture courtesy of my boyfriend Danny

Paws the Panther

Wow a snapshot with Paws the Team Mascot. What could be better to end this Long Term Project with another animal picture?

It’s been a real labour of Love and it shows what you can do when you try and help from your friends.

Mademoiselle Marionette’s Comfy Christmas 2019 Part 3

Mademoiselle Marionette’s Comfy Christmas 2019 Part 3

I now have the main Body and Shoulders of the Pyjama Top but I still have to add the Arms

4 Inch Arm

I cut two pieces of material and after Hemming the length was roughly 4 Inches in length. The width was approximately the same as the Shoulder overhang. See below.

Open Shoulders

I now opened the Shoulders back up so I could sew the Sleeves in place.

General Election Cock up

I frequently mention how distraction can lead to Errors. In this case it was watching the results come in. I inadvertently carried on Sewing after adding the Sleeve.

When I looked down I was Sewing down the Edge of the Sleeve. This meant that the Marionette would not be able to lift the Arm properly so I had to Unpick.

Sew On Sleeves

I now have both Sleeves attached. All that is need to finish the Pyjama Top is to close the Press Studs again.

A Tale of Two Masks 2020 Part 2

A Tale of Two Masks 2020 Part 2

Part 2 adds to the Colour of Blog.

White Background

I have my Black Hemmed Circle. I took some White Felt and Cut out a Circle slightly smaller than the first. I then Sewed it on top.

Adding Brown

The next part was harder. After scouring the internet for goodness how many hours I found the Image that I wanted. I now had to build up that Image in Felt.

I cut out the Body and Tail shapes in a suitable Brown Colour. I slightly overlapped them and then Sewed in Place.

Winging It

After the Tail and Body were in place I was the able to add the Wing.

Come on you Reds

Normally I would have just Coloured in a Red Circle if asked to draw a picture. However in studying the Image I found that it actually had considerable more Red required than you would think.

Yellow Peril

Time to add a Beak. This did not go well. The material I had was far too friable and in the end I had to give up.

Beak and Branch

I decided that it would be far easier just to Embroider the Beak onto the Circle. I then added another piece of Brown Felt as a Branch.

Orange Spot

This part was fiddly trying to get the Shape Cut and placed correctly.

Eyeing up the Leg

Here we have the finished item. I have Embroidered the leg and for a bit of fun decided to add a Googly Eye to my Red Breasted Robin.

Mademoiselle Marionette’s Comfy Christmas 2019 Part 2

Mademoiselle Marionette’s Comfy Christmas 2019 Part 2

On to adding the Pyjama Shoulders

Part Sew to Shoulders

I first made sure that the Press Studs were fastened. I then positioned the Body exactly in the Centre of the Shoulders. Next I part Sewed the Body to the Shoulders.

I left approximately one fingers width of the Body Unsewn. This is so there was movability for the Marionette.

Bend Top Corners

I took the two Corners of the Body and Bent them back on themselves and Sewed in place. This gave the look of a Collar.

Add Press Studs

Once the Collar was made I could add Press Studs to the Side of it. I added the other part of the Studs to the Corners of the Shoulder part.

Fold Corners

All I had to do next was simply Fold the Corners and Hey Presto there are the Shoulders.

Mademoiselle Marionette’s Comfy Christmas 2019 Part 1

Mademoiselle Marionette’s Comfy Christmas 2019 Part 1

Mademoiselle Marionette has some nice attire but for Christmas I thought she should be able to unwrap her presents in Comfort like everybody else.

Length of Pyjama Top

Starting the Pyjama Top I need to get some measurements. I found out my Template and measured the material against it. After Hemming it came to about 4.5 Inches in length.

Press Studs on PJ Top

I added Press Studs on the Outside of the Top

Press Studs on Inner

I matched up the Press Stud Parts and Sewed them in place on the Inner Part of the Pyjama Top.

6 Inch Shoulders

Next I needed to make the Shoulders. I made another Rectangle which was 6 Inches after Hemming.

Shoulders Pinned

Now I had the main Body of the Pyjama Top and the Shoulder Part I Pinned them together ready for Sewing.

Dionne’s Draught Excluder 2019 - Part 18

Dionne’s Draught Excluder 2019 - Part 18

Nearly there.

Sew through 3 Layers

I needed to attach the Head to the Body now it was in place. I decided to do the Bottom half first. I am using a Blanket Stitch as usual.

First of all I place the Body and Head on it’s Side. In order to make it secure I am passing the Needle through the Bottom Flap then through the Body and then Top Flap. I do this as far as I can on both Sides

Sew Head Flap

I then continue in Blanket Stitch Sewing the Bottom Flap to the Body. This joins the two Sides and now the whole of the Bottom Flap is Sewn and the Body cannot move.

Measure Velcro

To make sure I place the Ears in the correct position I have to have to add the legs. This will make it sit properly. Unfortunately I have lost the other half of my Velcro. Therefore I had to measure the half that I had already Sewn and cut two new pieces. Then I sewed the pieces to the Body.

Pin Ears

I move the Ears into different positions until I am satisfied. I then Pin both Ears in place to double check.

Pin Ear

The Pin is holding the Ear in place whilst I make a start. I keep switching between Sewing the Front of the Ear and the Back of the Ear.

This is because the Pin is only holding the Ear very loosely. After initially Sewing the Front and Back of the Ear to the Body I remove the Pin. I now can Sew the Ear more securely.

Sewn Ear

I have now Sewn one Ear in place. Then Sew the Front of the Head Flap to the Body as Far as the Ear. I then Sew the other Ear in place and do the same.

Two Bunny Ears

After Sewing the two Ears in place and the Front Flap to them I can continue across and Sew the rest of the Flap to the Body.

Easter Bunny

The final part is to add the Eyes. I have bought some Googly Eyes and I Glue them in place. I normally wipe down any gift I give however with the Corona Virus this time I am using Anti-Bacterial Wipes.

Bunny in Situe

After it is dried. I take to my friend and here it is in situe.
