Footy Fun 2022 Part 2

 Footy Fun 2022 Part 2

Short blog this week as not well.

Ironing Felt

I am going to use Felt to Cover the Box. However before I can do so I am going to have to Iron it. I have quite a pile to do and am also Ironing some scraps which I will use later.

Add Glue

I am going to use ordinary PVA Glue rather than fabric as I am a little low. Unfortunately the photograph of the Side didn’t come out so using a different one. The important thing is to make sure that the whole area is Covered or it will lift in the corners.

Overlap

I am putting White Felt all the way around the Sides of the Box. I have left a slight Overlap on the Front. This is so I can Trim the exact Shape.

Paint Edges

I could have Cut the Felt long enough to go over the Edge and down the other side. However I felt that this would impede the Lid from shutting. Therefore I decided to Paint the Edges White. I now need everything to dry before I carry on.

Footy Fun 2022 Part 1

Footy Fun 2022 Part 1

In case you have been living under a rock you cannot have failed to notice that there has been a lot of Footy about. Well it’s not over yet.

La Vega Coyrol

My boyfriend knowing that I like to do various craft projects presented me with this La Vega Coyrol Cigar Box. They were selling the Boxes off cheap and this was one of them.

Inside Cigar Box

As you can see in the above photographs the Box is covered with Stickers. It took me a good while to get all those off.

Paper Cover

What I hadn’t realised was that the Paper was holding the Lid on to the Box. This meant that I would have to Re-cover.

Cover Side

First of all I covered the Side of the Box and Glued the Paper on to the Front as well.

Cover Inner

I repeated the process with the Inside of the Cigar Box so it was Secured both Sides.

Oops Re-cover

Oops all that turning the Box has led to a weakness. I will need to Re-cover to Strengthen it.

Butterfly Banquet 2022 Part 3

 Butterfly Banquet 2022 Part 3

On to the next stage

Make a Hole

I had to add some Holes so I could put Thread through to hang it. I needed it equal so I decided to put the first one through near the Top or North North East if you prefer.

Thread and Knot

I cut a piece of String and Thread it through from the Back of the Dish. I then Tied a Knot to stop it coming through.

All Tied up

I then proceeded to repeat this process 3 more times. To strength I added extra Knots at the edges. Once done I Tied them altogether with a Central Knot. It would now be ready for use.

*****

As I stated previously the above Dish is just for show. This is because I neglected to take photographs when making the original. Here are some photographs of the Original in use.

Blueberries

Before you can Feed the Butterflies you need to add something to the Dish. Have you ever seen the expression of a Market Vendor when asking if they have any Rotten Fruit?

This is because Butterflies are attracted to the decaying juices. I obtained some Blueberries and my Boyfriend kindly Hung up the Feeder for me. We had to hang it up High because of the Cats in the area.

Gone Windy

Just one thing. Don’t do it on a Windy day because this is what happens!

Butterfly Banquet 2022 Part 2

 Butterfly Banquet 2022 Part 2

After my nautical exploits I am returning to Terra Firma. Time to do the Colouring.

Yellow Centre

This was the simplest part. I just got a Non Toxic Yellow Pen and Coloured in the Centre.

Gala Show

I then proceeded to colour in the Petals. The sponge had come off a Bingo Pen so I decided waste not want not and used that. I applied it using a Brush. It doesn’t matter if it was toxic or not as this is a display only creation.

Speckled Centre

As a neat way to get some of the Ink of the Brush I added a few Speckles to the Centre of the Bloom. I now need to let the whole thing dry.

Green Background

I could have Drawn Leaves but I decided just too completely fill in the Background with Green.

Butterfly Banquet 2022

Butterfly Banquet 2022

First of all I have to say I can claim no praise for this idea as it is not my own. I was given as a present a subscription to a well-known wildlife charity.

As I was flicking through I came across the concept for making a Butterfly Feeder. Though designed as something to occupy children I couldn’t help myself.

Inverted Dish

First of all you need a Paper Plate. I didn’t have any in stock. Therefore I decided to use a Paper Dish. Now the Inside of the Dish is Shiny and unlikely to hold Colour well. So I simply Inverted or simply put turned Inside Out so I could work on it.

Centre

I didn’t want to bore you with lots of photographs so this is a two part one. I found the Centre and hand drew a Circle. I did this by eye rather than mess about with measuring.

Next I added some Petals. I had no particular Flower in mind so I decided to add them Compass Style. I.e. North, East, South, West. When I was at school we learnt the compass points to the phrase ‘Never Eat Shredded Wheat’. However apparently that isn’t allowed anymore and now it is ‘Naughty Elephants Squirt Water’.

Extra Petals

Once the main 4 Petals were drawn I simply filled in the Gaps. As well as making a Feeder this is a pretty good way to teach Children the Compass.  The remainder points starting from the Top Right are of course.

North East, South East, South West, and North West. Thankfully I am not adding the others but for those that might want to add a few Leaves here is the rest.

North North East, East, North East, East, South, East, South South East, South South West, West South West, West North West and finally North North West. Who says my blogs aren’t intelligent?

Torc About Lucky 2022 Part 3

Torc About Lucky 2022 Part 3

Finally the Horse Shoe is Dry and looking splendid

Horse Shoe Back Finished

The Back of the Horse Shoe is still a little rougher than I would like. However unless I completed Scraped off the Paint where the Carrier Bag had made its impression it wasn’t going to get any better.

Horse Shoe Front Finished

The Front of the Horse Shoe came out lovely. Any defects are in the actual Shoe not the Spraying. This is because of course it is a used Horse Shoe.

Celtic Arghh

I simply had to have a play. Now I had my Torc I decided to take some photographs with it on.

Celtic Grr

It took quite some time to Braid all my hair.

Celtic Norm

I found some very old Eyeshadow and a Blue Eyeliner to do the Make-Up.

Celtic Collar

I have moved my hair back a bit so you can have a better look at the Torc Collar. Obviously real Torcs usually weren’t made from Horse Shoes. They also often had animals on the Ends.

That might be something I may add but for now I am happy. Torc about Lucky it came out alright.

Torc About Lucky 2022 Part 2

Torc About Lucky 2022 Part 2

I have finished the cleaning which in the end included using not only the tools but also ‘The Pink Stuff’, Wire Wool and a lot of Elbow Grease

Ford Aztec

I got a Can of Car Spray from the shop. Since I wanted a Brown/Gold colour to resemble an old Torc Necklace I chose the colour Ford Aztec.

Horse Shoe Sprayed Back

I put some paper down and started Spraying. It seemed to cover reasonably well.

Horse Shoe Sprayed Front

I then proceeded to Spray the Front of the Horse Shoe.

Not Fully Covered

After waiting 24 Hours for it to dry I noticed it hadn’t fully covered so had to give it another Spray.

Disaster Respray.

I dropped a Clanger. The Carrier Bag had been blown by the wind and partly Stuck to the Shoe. I therefore had to Bite the Bullet and Respray. This time to be on the Safe side I decided to Spray directly with it place on the Shelf.

I added a Board to warn folks not to touch it.

Torc About Lucky 2022

 Torc About Lucky 2022

Back in 2018 my friend was kind enough to take me to the National Coal Mining Museum.

My Friend Finn

It was Finn’s 10th Birthday. He is a beautiful Clydesdale Horse.

Finn’s Shoe

During a visit to the Blacksmith I was given one of Finn’s old Shoes.

7 Inch Long

It is hard to properly gauge the size so I thought I would get out the measuring tape and from Top to Bottom it was 7 Inches Long.

7 Inch Wide

Since it is a Curved object I thought I would Measure it at its Widest point. Unbelievably it is as Wide as it was Long.

5 Inch Heel

Lastly I Measured across at the Bottom. Finn’s Heel was 2 Inches Less at 5 Inches.

Horse Shoe Tools

An idea is brewing in my brain. How at first I needed to get my Tools to clean the Horse Shoe.

Apologies for the layout, Not sure what happened.
