Autumn Equinox Invocation 2019 Part 1

Autumn Equinox Invocation 2019 Part 1

This is going to be an unusual Blog. It is Monday 23rd September 2019 the Autumn Equinox. I am going to perform an Invocation Ritual.

I am Invoking The Egyptian Goddess Maat. She is the Goddess of Truth and Balance. She is the Primary Deity that deals with Justice.

Selection of Tools

In order to do the Invocation I need several objects that are connected with the Goddess Maat and Justice. Since I do not have them to hand I will have to make them.

Slice the Cork

One object that is synonymous with Justice is that of Scales. In Egyptian Mythology in order to pass on to the afterlife a person’s Heart was placed on one side of the Scales and a Feather on the other. If the Heart was heavier than the Feather then there would be no admittance.

In order to make the Scales I first need a base. This was done by making a small slit in a Cork then carefully slicing it in half Lengthways.

Lolly in Cork

After making the Base I put another slit in the Cork then tease the Lolly Stick into the Base.

Horizontal Lolly in Slit

Now I have the Vertical Stick in place I make a small slit at the Top. I then slide the Horizontal Stick into place.

Green Circles

To make the Dishes I cut out a pair of Green Circles. Although I won’t be putting anything heavy on them like a Heart I decide to make them out of Card to make them stronger.

Sew Circle

With Needle and Thread I sew a Loop on to the Card. Being a little clumsy I inadvertently added a Blood Offering.

Sew Crosswise

I next added another Loop. I have also Folded the Edge of the Card all the way around. This is too make it more Dish Shaped.

Finished Scales

Finally I add the Loops onto the Horizontal Bar. It took a while for me to get them to Balance even with them empty.

I could now start making the other items for the Ritual.

Mademoiselle Marionette Summer Apparel 2019 Part 2

Mademoiselle Marionette Summer Apparel 2019 Part 2

I now had the measurements for the Waist I could start making the Skirt.

Elastic and Hook

First of all I measured, cut and Hemmed a length of Elastic then added a Hook and Eye.

Skirt Parts

I had already Hemmed the Skirt Parts so all I had to do was Fold them at the right point.

Pinned Skirt Fold

The above photograph shows how I worked out where to Fold the Skirt. I Folded the circle over the Elastic then Pinned it. I then place a few tacking stitches to hold in place.

Once I had done that I could easily slip the Skirt Part on and off the Elastic

Skirt Parts Sewn

I carefully overlapped two pieces of the same material and then sewed them together.

White Skirt Parts Sewn

I made three sets of two Skirt Parts.

Skirt Arrangement

I then arranged two sections to fit together on the Elastic

Another Skirt Arrangement

As you can see in the above photograph this meant that the Skirt Front and Back could be changed giving several different outfits.

Mademoiselle Marionette Summer Apparel 2019

Mademoiselle Marionette Summer Apparel 2019

I have decided to continue adding to the Marionette’s wardrobe with some Summer Apparel

Mademoiselles Measurements

I had the foresight to take a rough drawing of the Marionette along with measurements.

Measuring Tools

However flat measurements are one thing and putting them on a 3D figure is quite different especially when I haven’t done this before.

I decided that having something to use as a guide would be helpful.

Measuring Circumference

Having sorted my Measuring Tools out I started looking for things that I could use as my guide. I started by getting an empty toilet roll. I tided a piece of yarn around the roll.

Six Inches

The Circumference of the roll was 6 Inches. This was too Small.

Too Big

I next tried a glass jar. I measured both the outer glass and the around the neck of the jar. These both turned out to be too Big.

Just right

I then tried a tube of Bicarbonate of Soda. This turned out to be Just Right.

Vhere there is a Vill there is a Vay! 2019 Part 5

Vhere there is a Vill there is a Vay! 2019 Part 5

I really hate picking up Stitches. It is even worse when you have to unpick a Cast On first.

Fluff Balls and Waste

This Acrylic Yarn is awful. Apart from Fluff Balls everywhere all over the carpet it is Splitting all over the place.

Bottom Rib

I finally managed to get the Bottom Rib done. Top Rib. I had to undo several rows before I managed to Pick Up the Stitches.
Unfortunately because of the amount of damaged Yarn it is Shorter than the Top Half of the Blanket both on the Stocking Stitch and the Rib. It is one of those times when I can do absolutely nothing about it.

De-fluffing Tools

This is a bit of a new experience for me. As the item is for a Dog I need to make it as safe as possible. First I started cutting off most of the loose pieces of Fluff.
Then I used a Razor to get off the fine pieces. I had to be very careful when I did this as otherwise I might cut through some of the holding Stitches.

VW Finished

After tidying up the Fluff I washed and pressed the Blanket. I must admit that despite the flaws I am quite impressed with the end result.

The above photograph shows the recipient of the Blanket. This is my neighbour’s dog Charlie. He seems a bit hesitant at first.

Charlie 2

Looks like he has got the hang of it now. I think the best moment of the project is when my neighbour asked me where I bought it from. – I was so proud.
