Now for the harder bit - especially to Photograph.

Pull Yarn Taut

The Doll should be facing and have 4 Loops. Take the Yarn Ends and Pull. It needs to be firm but not so Tight as hard to work with or come off.

Warning

From this point the work seems to have a mind of its own and can and does at least in my case try and Unravel itself.

Second Round

We are going to create a Second Round of Loops the same way as before. This has to be done One Loop at a Time not a whole Round. Wind the Yarn around the Hoop above the First Loop. This is important.

Crochet Hook Lower

This is where the Crochet Hook, Grip or Needle comes into Play. With the Doll facing you there are now Two Loops. Take the Crochet Hook and gather the Lower Loop.

Lift Over

Next Lift the Loop Up and Over the First one and remove the Crochet Hook. Gently pull the Yarn and it will Disappear into the Centre. This leave The Loop you have just made now on the Bottom.

I have to confess that I did this countless times before I got it right. I either got the Hook Stuck or pulled too hard and the whole thing Unravelled and I had to start from scratch.

All Four Loops

After successfully Creating and Lifting one Loop off I turned the Doll and started on the next Hoop. I continued this process going around and around. 

Though you cannot see it as it is inside the Doll a Chain or Cord is being formed. I carried on until it came out of the Bottom of the Doll and then a couple of extra inches.

To finish the Cord Rethread the Needle. Go through one of the Loops and Lift off pulling as you do so. Go through all Four of the Loops the Secure it by going through the Top of the Cord.

Now I have my Safety Pins I can continue where I left off.

Pin Elastic

I select a Pin and taking one End of the Elastic I secure it. I haven’t Hemmed the Elastic at this point. This is because I am not sure if I have too much and need to Cut some Off.

Pull Through

I Pull Through the the Elastic using the Safety Pin. I have to make sure that the other End of the Elastic doesn’t come through. You cannot see it but the other End of the Tube is Scrunched up.

Hem Elastic

I can now Hem and Sew the Elastic Ends together. Since this can be fiddly use the Safety Pin to hold the Elastic together whilst Sewing.

Sew Width

This can be a bit tricky. I need to Sew the Tube Ends together along the Width. However I need to make sure that I do not sew completely through both sets of Material.

I Sewed little by little making sure that there was a Gap on the other side. When one part was complete I turned over and Sewed the rest.

Completed Scrunchie

I now have a Completed Scrunchie. I think I might have slightly too much Material so will have to take that into consideration next time. Of course the Thread needs to match better. I used this so I could see how I was doing. I could Unpick the Hemming .Thread if I want too at a later date, but I am satisfied for now. Oh and the most important thing is that it does work as I am wearing it now.

It is a long time since I have added Tassels to anything. First thing to sort was the Colour. After checking the Nottingham County Football Club site I discovered the Tassels are White not Black.

6.5 Inches

 

I needed a decent amount of Yarn for the Tassels. I found an old Chalk Board. I turned it on its side and the length was 6.5 Inches.

Wound Yarn

 

I wound the Yarn around the Board in Strands of 4 until I reached the End.

Cut Along Edge

 

I cut along the Edge of the Board so I now a group of pieces of Yarn ready for use.

Hook through Back

 

I don’t Crochet but I do have a couple of Hooks I use for jobs like this. I pushed the Hook through from the Back of the Scarf.

Add Yarn to Hook

 

I took 2 of the Strands folded them and placed them on the Hook

Pull Yarn through

 

I gently pulled the Hook through the Knitting making sure that the Yarn didn’t slip off. This made a Loop.

Thread Ends Through

I then slipped the 4 Strands through the Loop keeping them even.

Pull Tight

 

Next I Pulled the Loop Tight. I then repeated the process on the other End. I continued this process working towards the Centre. Then I trimmed up the Ends to make sure they were all even.

Danny Scarf

All that was left was to model it. Here is Danny wearing the Scarf. It is a slightly older style but the Length looks good on him and it is very warm. He seems very happy with his Christmas Present and that in the end is the whole point of Hand Knitted Gifts.

I am on the last stretch of my Accessories. I am going to make a Bracelet.

Pocket Chain

 

I have one Pocket Chain left. I linked it together to form the basis of my Bracelet.

Dirty Washer

I wanted a good selection of items to put on my Bracelet as Charms. I happened upon this one in the street.

Clean Washer

After a spot of scrubbing the Washer came up much cleaner. This is going to be the Centre Piece of the Bracelet.

Looped through Washer

 

I took a length of Copper Wire and Folded it and placed the Loop through the Washer.

Pull through Washer

 

I pulled the Wire through the Loop until it was tight.

1^st Washer Tied

 

 

Once the Washer was secure I Threaded the two Wires through the Bracelet. I Trimmed the Length and Wound the Wire back on itself to secure it.

I placed this particular Washer near to the join of the Pocket Chain. This Washer is both the largest and the heaviest so would anchor it underneath the Wrist when worn.

Completed Charms

 

I continued adding different sized and coloured Washers at intervals on the lower half of the Bracelet. I didn’t want them all the way around because the Copper wire would make it stiff and therefore uncomfortable.

Steampunk Set
