Autumn Cape – A Long Term Project 2019 Toggle & Loops

Autumn Cape – A Long Term Project 2019 Toggle & Loops

With so many projects on the go it seems that I never have time to finish the one I started a few years ago. This is quite annoying as it is getting so close to being a finished item.

Toggles Badger Side

For quite some time I have been unhappy with the Toggles on the Interior. I have difficulty keeping one Tied whilst trying to do the next one.

I also haven’t as yet decided how to Tie the Interior further up. As you can see in the photograph above only 4 Toggles are Sewn on.

Unravelled

I decided to make some more I-Cords. These were to be used as either replacements or as additional securing. However since they are Knitted on Double Ended Needles whilst travelling this particular one decided to completely Unravel.

4 I-Cords

I Knitted 4 I-Cords. Since this was going to be a Trial and Error basis I didn’t measure them. They are roughly the same Length as a Motorola G Mobile for those who are technical.

Testing Tie

I next Tested the I-Cord for Length. I wanted to make sure that it would Tie after it had been Sewn on. If they were massively to Long I could simply Unravel and make Shorter Ties.

The next step is to Sew one Tie into place and decided whether to use the Toggles or to Remove them from the Interior.

Cat Before Bunny 2020 Part 3

Cat Before Bunny 2020 Part 3

Now I have had a break I can continue repairing the Leg

Top Edge Sewn

I Sew the Top Edge of the Thigh in Blanket Stitch.

Inside Out Curve

I have turned the material Inside Out. I Sew across the Corner of the Thigh with a simple Backstitch. This is not a straight line but a Curved one.

Cut Curve

Once the Curve is Sewn I cut off the excess. I then strengthen it with a Blanket Stitch.

Thigh Curved

I make another Curve at the other side of the Thigh. I then repeat the process at the end of the Leg. However before Cutting I slip the Case over the stuffed Leg to check it is correct. Once finished I turn the material the right way.

All sewn up

I put the Stuffed Leg into the material and Sew up. I use Blanket Stitch to seal it. It isn’t as neat as the original but repairs never are.

Leg Re-attached

All that is left to do now is to Re-attach the Leg to the Body.

Seam Problems

Unfortunately for me Cats tend to have more than one leg. This Leg has to be repaired.

Double Split

This one has a Double Split.

Bursting at the Seams

And finally this Leg is beginning to burst at the Seams. It might be at the end of the blog but work still goes on behind the scenes – or should that be behind the Seams?

Cat Before Bunny 2020 Part 2

Cat Before Bunny 2020 Part 2

Hello all. I hope you enjoyed the Corona Virus Challenge in my last blog. Now back to my normal crafting.

Connection Problems

I have numerous repairs to do. Most of the Legs are coming away.

Detached Leg

I have detached the Leg so it will be easier to work on then I can reattach it once finished.

4 Hemmed Single

I measured the Length of the Leg and cut a piece of cloth. I then Hemmed a Single Side. This is the Edge where the Thigh would be. Since there are 4 Legs I decided to repeat the process there and then.

Pin in Middle

In the above photograph you can see better which is the Hemmed Edge. I have secured it with a Pin for a moment whilst I double check that I have picked up the correct cloth.

Pin to Cut

I removed the other Pin so I could move the cloth up so both sides were covered. I then secured it at the Bottom with that Pin. I then Pinned the Outline of where I needed to Cut.

Pin Hem Top

I cut the Top to size. I then Hem it. I double check the Outline and secure with a Pin at the Top before Cutting.

Hemmed All Around

Once I had the shape I could then Hem all the way around.

Hem Side

I have finished Hemming the Side of Thigh. Time for a break

Corona Virus Challenge April 2020

Corona Virus Challenge April 2020

Hello Everyone. I hope you are all keeping safe. Since most countries have some sort of movement restriction in place this week I thought that I would take a break from my usual craft blog. Instead I am going to work on my other Craft – Writing.
Inspired by a BBC video that changed the lyrics to one of Victoria Wood’s songs I have done something similar. So with a break from the norm I hear by Challenge anybody that is going up the wall to select a tune, change the lyrics and then add to this blog so everybody can see.

I look forward to singing all your efforts
On the 1st Week of Crisis (to the tune of ‘On the 1st Day of Christmas’).

Adapted By Jane Burton

Cat Before Bunny 2020 Part 1

Cat Before Bunny 2020 Part 1

In my last blog I had the finished Bunny Draught Excluder. However that was not the first one I had made. Previously I had made one for myself in the form of a Cat

Mastermind and Henchman

Before I gave the Bunny away I had taken a picture of it with my Cat Excluder. The photograph above shows them side by side. I could not help by being struck with the thought that they resembled an Evil Cat Mastermind and a rather Dopey Hench-Bunny.

In the Wars

On closer examination I noticed that it looked like my Cat no doubt during an attempt to take over the world had become rather worse for wear. The End of its Paw had stuffing spewing out like a Volcano

Pore Paw

Along with the Paw End being ripped it seems that some stuffing had actually fallen out. This had led to a Depression further down the Leg.

Push Stuffing

The easy bit was to simply push the Stuffing back into the Leg until the Depression had gone.

Paw Hole

I was now left with a Hole at the End of the Paw. I had some Black Offcuts so I filled the Paw to nearly the End.

Paw End Sewn

I then finished off by Folding the Edges of End in on themselves and Sewing together with my usual Blanket Stitch. Unfortunately this was only the beginning of the Repairs.
