Mademoiselle Marionette Summer Apparel 2019 Part 4A

Mademoiselle Marionette Summer Apparel 2019 Part 4A

I have entitled this Blog 4A as it is the same Handbag but restarted

Pin Point to Sew

This time I tried a different approach. I Folded one Side to the point where it looked correct when Folded back on itself. I then Pinned the Point from which
to Sew.

Sew Two Edges Together

I Sewed loosely along the Circle Edge then Flipped it the right way to check that it was the correct alignment. I then did the same with the other side.

Blanket Stitch

Once I was definitely sure that the Edges would be now be in the right place I Unpicked what I had just Sewn. I Folded the previously Sewn Edge back on itself then Sewed along the now Straight Edge

Bottom of Handbag

Turning the material back the right way again I now had a Handbag shape with which I was happy.

Sew Strap

I carefully Folded back one of the Top Edges and Sewed a Hemmed Piece of Ribbon on to it.

Finished Bag

I repeated this action on the opposite side and voila I finally had my first Summer Handbag for Mademoiselle.

Mademoiselle Marionette Summer Apparel 2019 Part 4

Mademoiselle Marionette Summer Apparel 2019 Part 4

Although this is a relatively easy item to make in theory I somehow managed to make a muck of it. Since it is difficult even for me to remember what happened I have decided to split this into several parts.

Pair of Hemmed Blue Circles

What I am making is a Handbag. Or rather I am making two Handbags. First of all I took one of the Two Hemmed Blue Circles I had left.

Fold Circle in Half

I made sure that the Zig-Zag pattern was not at an angle then I Folded the Circle in Half and pressed it along the straight edge.

Middle Crease

This when Unfolded left a Crease down the Middle of the Material. This Fold indicates where the Bottom of the Bag is going to be.

Fold and Pin

Next I Folded the Side and Pinned it.

Pin at Top

I mimicked the Fold on the opposite Side and Pinned both at where the Top would be.

Sew at Top

I then started to Sew at the Top and Stitched my way along the Sides.

Unpick Sides

I am not exactly sure what happened. Instead of being nice and neat I had bulges. One Side seemed fine but the other had managed to be twice as thick as the other.

I can only conclude that it must have been a mixture of slippage and that the fact that the Circles are not exactly symmetrical. Therefore I was forced to Unpick both Sides and start again.

Mademoiselle Marionette Summer Apparel 2019 Part 3

Mademoiselle Marionette Summer Apparel 2019 Part 3

This Blog is about some essential Accessories for the ever hotter British Summer.

Parasol Parts

I decided that Mademoiselle Marionette could do with a Parasol. I still had some Circles that had already been Hemmed and I picked out 9 Cocktail Sticks.

Parasol Configuration

I laid the Circle flat and placed all but one of the Cocktails Sticks on top of the wrong side of the Material. I placed them evenly spaced in a Configuration similar to a Compass.

Spokes Adjusted

Once I was satisfied with the layout I broke the Cocktail Sticks into parts. These were to be the Parasol Spokes. I had the Pointed end hanging a little over the Material.

The other end of the Stick was just short of the Centre. I didn’t want any of the Spokes actually touching.

Spokes Glued

When I had all the Spokes at the correct length I Glued them into position

Spokes Sewn

Once the Glue had completely dried I could proceed with the next part. I took some White Thread and Sewed the Pointed end to the Material.

Parasol Ironed

The next part was to very carefully Iron in between the individual Spokes. This creates the Folds.

Parasol Ready

Lastly I Glued one of the Cocktail Sticks underneath in the Centre. Now the Pair of Parasols were ready.

N.B.
Although technically the Parasols will Fold it is inadvisable to do so as there is no strengthening Circle in the Centre. Therefore with constantly Furling and Unfurling they are likely to Break.

Autumn Equinox Invocation 2019 Part 3

Autumn Equinox Invocation 2019 Part 3

This is the final part of the Autumn Equinox Invocation. I have to confess that this Blog is more to do with ‘The Craft’ rather than the crafting. However there is a small amount involved so I hope you enjoy it. I have in places made small alterations for reasons of privacy and also my usual practise of forgetting things that are not written down.

I had made most of the items for the Ritual but I needed a few more. These items including Offerings to go with the Invocation. One item that is constantly linked with the Goddess Maat is that of ‘The Ankh’.

Autumn Equinox Display

Instead of making an Ankh out of Card I decided to be a little more creative. I took the Crust of Wholemeal bread (my favourite part) and gentle cut out the shape of the Ankh. This seemed a suitable offering as Egyptians were renowned for their abundance of Bread. Egypt was sometimes referred to as the Bread Basket of Rome.

To make it even more special I spread the Bread with Honey. Normally when dealing with Egyptian Deities it is common to offer Beer. However since I did not have any I decided to use Milk as a substitute. This was of naturally the Cow variety and not Assess Milk.

After cleaning the area both physically and spiritually (by means of sound) and having cleansed myself I prepared the Ritual space as shown in the photograph above.

Burning Scales

A word about safety. I had originally planned to do this ritual outside. Unfortunately it decided to rain as if the Nile was in full flood. Therefore I had no alternative but to do the ritual in the Kitchen. If you notice in the photograph I now have the cauldron on top of the plaque. This is to avoid the fire being right under the Kitchen Cupboard.

I placed the lit candle into the Cauldron then added first the Ostrich Feather that would light easily. Then I added the Scales and used the Sword to keep the burning items inside the Cauldron.

Burning Scales and Sword

After the Scales had burnt down enough I felt that I could add the Sword safely without everything tumbling out.

Adding Ankh

Now I could begin to add the Offerings. I placed the Honey covered Bread Ankh across the top of the Cauldron. You may have noticed that I have not mentioned using any incense.

Instead of using any artificial scent in my Ritual I decided to let nature take its course. As everybody knows it is hard to ignore the smell of Toast. The Honey added a sweet aroma which I felt would please the Goddess.

Burning Ankh

After the Ankh had been fired long enough it began to crumble into the Cauldron. When I felt it had been in sufficient time I added the final Offering. This was the Milk which dowsed the Flames. When cooled the residue was discarded.

The Ritual
Standing with legs astride and arms up above head forming a Chalice and eyes looking upwards.

Oh Maat, Goddess of Justice I invoke you
Oh Maat Goddess of Justice I ask for your aid
I have long suffered and I call to you to bring me Justice

Add the items to the Fire when speaking.

I offer this Feather as a symbol of Truth
(may the truth shine through)
I offer these Scales as a symbol of Balance and Harmony
(may I have peace)
I offer this Sword as a symbol of Authority
(may it cleave away injustice)
I offer this Ankh as a symbol of Life
(may my life be freed from this burden)
I offer this Milk as a symbol of Nourishment
(may I be healed)

Thank the Goddess

On an interesting note I would like to add that shortly after performing this Ritual on the Autumn Equinox I had three pieces of good news regarding my situation.
