Mademoiselle Marionette 2018 Part 24

Mademoiselle Marionette 2018 Part 24

In this blog I will be carrying on with the Accessories

Red Earrings

I decided to make some earrings for the Marionette. The first thing I needed to do was to be able to attach them. This I did by sewing one half of a clear Press Stud to the Marionette to either side where the ears would be.

Blue Earrings

I then selected the colour and material that I wanted. I decided to use Felt to match the other Accessories. I sewed the other half of the Press Stud to the back of the Felt. I then cut the out the shape that I desired. I had to make sure that I didn’t cut too close or I would have snipped the stitches holding it.

White Earrings

In addition to making different shapes I decided to Bling up the earrings with some sparkly Gems.

Nipped Bra

I went back to the Bra I made and nipped it in at the middle to give it more shape. I also added a Rose to make it prettier.

Garter

I couldn’t resist adding this little touch to the legs. It was very simple to make. It is made from slightly stretchy material therefore I didn’t need to use elastic. I simply cut it slightly smaller than normal to make it snug then Hemmed it. After that I made it into a band and voila one Garter.

Mademoiselle Marionette 2018 Part 23

Mademoiselle Marionette 2018 Part 23

This week we move on to the Handbag.

Rectangle Folded

I used a very simple process to make the Handbags. This is the first one I made. I took a piece of Rectangular cloth and folded it into thirds.

In the photograph above you can see that I pinned it so it wouldn’t move whilst sewing. I sewed up both of the sides with a Blanket stitch. I then sewed a piece of Ribbon to one side then the other side so it Looped into a Strap

Pair of Handbags

Once I made the Red Handbag I used the same technique on the others. However I did add a few details to tie in with the other outfits.

On the Navy Blue Handbag I had the tiniest piece of material left over so I sewed that along the middle of the Rectangle before Blanket Stitching. I also trimmed the edge with the Pinking Scissors.

Ice White Handbag

Unlike the Red Handbag the rest of the collection I had added Press Studs to them so they didn’t swing open. This meant I had to slightly alter the length of the Flap as I needed to Fold and Hem it to secure the Stud.

Party Blue Handbag

One thing I felt was a good idea was to put the heavy part of the Stud on the Hem of Flap. This would give it a little extra strength when undoing it. The tip to remember is to sew the Press Stud on the Flap prior to sewing it in place.

It is also good to sew the other part of the Stud in place before sewing up the sides. With the exception of the Red Handbag which was the test piece I also sewed the Ribbon in place before turning.

The great thing about making multiple items of this kind is you are continually making improvements in technique.

Mademoiselle Marionette 2018 Part 22

Mademoiselle Marionette 2018 Part 22

A smartly dressed lady out on the town will of course have a snazzy pair of Gloves to go with her outfit.

White Glove Cut Out

The problem with making the Gloves was two-fold. One was the curvature of the arms and the other was how to work around the Marionettes strings.

The later was the easiest to sort out. I decided to make the Gloves foldable at the Top along with a side Split. The former problem was more difficult to overcome.

In the end I placed the arm on a piece of cloth and drew around it. I then had to very carefully bend the cloth around the curve in the arm before I cut it. Otherwise when I opened it out there would be a massive gap.

Pair of Red Gloves

Obviously this is a little time consuming continually measuring every time I wanted to make a Glove. Also once the Marionette was gifted I would not be unable to more. Therefore I drew around each Glove so I would have it for perpetuity.

Trio of Glove Pairs

I made a trio of Glove pairs in the French Flag colours. In this photograph you can see the Top Fold and the Side Split clearly.

Blue Party Gloves

The final pair of Gloves were the Party ones. A touch of sparkly ribbon to add the finishing touch.

Mademoiselle Marionette 2018 Part 21

No outfit is complete without Shoes. Here are some I made.

Red Circle

I took a Circle I cut out and snipped off the ends. I then proceed to just quickly Tacked the ends.

Red Shoe Front Sewn

I started to Blanket Stitch up the Front part of the Shoe

Checking Shoe Size

I slipped the Shoe on to the Marionette’s Foot to Check the Size. Once satisfied I carried on sewing to the right place.

Two Ribbons Attached

I needed to make sure the Shoe didn’t come off so I added a couple of Ribbons so they could be tied Ballet style.

A Tri-colour of Shoes

Here are the three traditional colours.

Blue Party Shoes

Here I did a pair of Shoes and added a couple of Bows to glitz them up ready for partying.
