Autumn Cape Bag 2022 Part 21
In this blog, I am going to add the Second Part of the Backing.
Before I can go any further, I need to Cut the Material
to the right Length. I then Hem the End.
Unpick and Trim
This is seriously annoying. There is definitely too much
Excess of Material in the Backing. The Hem that I had done with the really ‘Hard
Curve’ due to the thickness of the Original has to be Unpicked. I have to Trim
the Edge of the Material back. Then I have to Resew the Hem again.
After I have done that, I will need to Tack the Backing to the Strap as I did with the Template.
Sew Edge
After all that faffing around, I can finally begin on the
next part. I need to Strengthen the Strap Further. I do this by Decreasing the
Surface Area. I bring the two Edges of the Strap together. I then Sew with Wool
using a Blanket Stitch.
I cannot Sew all the way down as I need to Match up this
End of the Strap with its opposite. I can now add the Buckle to the Strap.
With the Buckle added, I can continuing Sewing the Edges together. I Sew down to the End of the Strap. I am not going to Sew the Bottom yet as I will need to check what Colour Wool, I need going across.
