Evening Masks 2020

Evening Masks 2020

It was not until my Birthday was due and I was going out to a restaurant that I realised that I had no Masks for Evening.

Hanger Curve

Evening Masks needed to be more delicate and therefore have less material. I decided this time to take material way from the Top of the Mask. I selected Black material for a change. I Pinned the material in Half then drew around the Curve of a Hanger.

Centre and Sides

Now I had the Centre piece to work from I Chalked out where the Sides would be. I Pinned the material to stop it moving before doing so.

I wasn’t entirely happy with the result so I rubbed out the Chalk and got the Sides more equal.

Pinned to Cut

I now Pinned the material ready for Cutting. You can see in the above picture that I have Folded the material in Half to get a more accurate Cut.

Hem Room

I quickly spotted that I had forgotten about the Hem so I added that before I moved on.

Pin Hem

After cutting I Pinned the Hem at the along the Top. I did this on both Sides of the Centre. I had to tweak it a little in places to make sure that it was equal.

Sewn Hem

Since I have Folded and Sewn the Hem I realised that I have slighted altered the shape make a less drastic Curve.

Flatten Curve

I tried the Mask against my Face and decided that I didn’t like the Shape. Therefore on the Bottom I Flattened the Curve prior to Sewing. I then Hemmed the Sides. Thus completing the basic design.
