Mademoiselle
Marionette 2018 Part 14
I trimming the excess material and discarding it. To make the join more secure I took a piece of
Black Ribbon and sewed that along the join. This both strengthened the Stocking
and also gave it that characteristic Black Seam.
I am leaving stringing the Marionette for now and going
to concentrate on dressing it.
Piece
of Fishnet
The first part I am going to work on is making Stockings
for the Legs. I was going to hem some white material and then sew black on it in
a crisscross design.
However a friend gave me a piece of Fishnet material so I
thought I would cut it in two and make a pair of Stockings. This is not as easy as it sounds!
Net
pinned to Foot
I believe that Net is probably the worst thing to try and
sew. This due to the fact that there is nothing to secure it to. I draped one
piece of Net over the Leg and Foot. I secured the material on the foot with a
pin so it couldn’t move.
This held it in position whilst I joined the two sections
together. I did this by using a Looping
action which interwove the thread in and out of the holes.
Net
pinned to Leg
After joining the Net on the Foot together I pinned more
material to the Leg and began to sew that together a little piece at a time.
Fishnet
Seam Holder
Trimmed
Too Much
Grr as you can see I over-trimmed the Net and was forced
to resew it. However I also had to strengthen the individual diamonds with Black
thread in order to accomplish this.
Sewing
Top of Stocking
Of course no Stocking would be complete without its
Stocking Top. This was done by securing the top edge then applying more Black
Ribbon
A
Pair of Stockings
After I finished one Leg I started on the second. There
you have it. One pair of Saucy Fishnet Stockings.
